This is "old" and certainly not new. It's a REMINDER notice about the recall issued June 26th......
Recall Reminder Campaign
There has been several threads about this already. Cliff notes - all suspensions but FE4 (Z51 w/MRC) and not ALL C7's are involved. If your VIN is involved, you'll be notified.
NEWS: GM is recalling certain 2014 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles; REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS
Report Receipt Date: JUN 26, 2014
NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V377000
Component(s): REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS
Potential Number of Units Affected: 1,939
JULY 2014 -- General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles manufactured February 12, 2014, to March 14, 2014. Due to an improper weld on the rear shock absorbers, the shock absorber tubes may separate from the shock absorber clevis brackets resulting in a sudden change in vehicle handling. A sudden change in vehicle handling increases the risk of a crash. GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace both of the rear shock absorbers, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. GM's number for this recall is 14302. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Ken,
"Old" is relative, especially since GM didn't notify me through any personal channels. I found it when I looked at my OnStar diagnostics report. I'm sure others will find this "old" news new to them as well. Thanks for the detailed info.

Reason: forgot vin # 15658
You can go on line and check you VIN to see if your car is in the recall numbers. I did and last week had the shocks replaced. These were only on base cars produced between end of Feb. to mid-March 2014.
