I am thinking of ordering a new 2015 Corvette. Although any dealer can order a Corvette at any time, I have heard that dealers have a specific number of Corvettes they can order with hope of actually getting the order filled.
I have friends that ordered Corvettes and waited over nine months of dealer excuses without being able to get their deposit back. Had to threaten to go to court to get deposit back. I don't want this to happen to me. Is there a code I can ask them about that tells me the order will actually be filled in a couple of months rather than them taking the order (and deposit) and then shopping for someone that will fill the order?

gr8corvette, you need to ask any potential dealer how many C7 allocations they have (they know this number) and how many people are on the list ahead of you. The larger the number of "unfilled" allocations, the better your chances. However, that is not the whole story. The ability of any dealer to get your order built depends on what you order. If you order includes options on constraint (meaning their availability is limited), then it is harder to get your car built. For example, the visible carbon fiber roof is currently constrained at 20%. So, on a nationwide basis for each order cycle, only 20% of the allocations will have that option available. So, if your dealer only get 1 allocation every cycle, then your odds are not very good. If the dealer get 10 (some of the larger dealers get this many and more), then the odds of getting some allocations with that option are very good.
Look at the current Constraint report (posted a short while ago) and see what is currently constrained. If you have one or more of the constrained items that you want to order, then you really need to go with one of the major forum dealers.

Before the start of regular production of any Chevrolet each model year, dealers are given a "guide number" intended to help them plan their sales year. Allocations are given out in the course of the model year based on that guide number. The guide number is normally based on the number of units actually sold during the previous model year. At one time every Chevrolet dealer was allocated a minimum of one every model year but that has not been true since 2004. So about 2000 Chevrolet dealers can expect to get allocations which allows the dealer to get an order accepted.

C2Z is constrained at 20%, FAY is constrained at 50% and Z51 is constrained at 55%. So, statistically speaking, there is only a 14% (rounded) chance of any individual allocation having all three options available. Actual allocations at a single dealer may vary significantly from this probability model, but it is valid on a nation-wide basis. Add to that the people that may be on his list ahead of you and you could be in for a wait. I'd suggest contacting him to find out where you are on the list and see if he recommends dropping the FAY (you can add it afterwards for less than the option cost) to get you your car sooner.
