I think you have about 40 miles of normal road driving left to empty when you see that. About 2 gallons. Less if you are racing...
Last time I saw it, conveniently right next to a gas station, I had to put in a bit over 16 gallons to fill it up.
I believe it is telling you how many miles you have left before you run out of gas. I have pushed mine till it said I had 15 miles left.
Playing that game in the summer could be expensive. The fuel pump uses gas to cool itself. Run the car too low for too long or too often can kill the pump. Even if your car is under warranty (of course a C7 will be), you want to get stranded in East Jesus?
What’s the rationale for pushing the limit? Fill up and move on. Don
The warning came on for me and said I had 50 miles left. Yes, I drove it until the warning came up because I wanted to know how many miles I would have before running out.
IIRC, it states 50 miles till empty. I've driven some 75 miles after the light has come on and when I filled up, I still had a gallon left in the tank or so.
MFGs will always underestimate the remaining miles till empty. Usually when you get to 0 Miles, you usually have 1-2 gallons left.

Yup...Mine comes on at 40 miles left.....Wish it did the full countdown like most cars....I was in he boonies with 30 miles to the nearest station...Made it!
Headed north I was not paying attention this spring. The low Fuel light came on, said I had 40 miles. GPS in car said 48 miles to next gas. Well I drove 7 miles after 0 miles left. I put just over 17 gallons in the tank.
That is the one and only time I have seen the low fuel light. I do not plan to ever see it again

I usually find a gas station when it reads 1/4 tank left.
Usually lights come on at 30miles with most vehicles, my cts v however would give a warning at about 15, once it came on for good you had best be in sight of a gas station; good old gm
The fuel gauge is the size and shape so that the curved part is perfectly hidden from my view by the steering wheel, so I almost ran mine out of gas once...
Now I keep the information center set on gallons used to remind me when I need to refuel....
I think I still had at least 2 gallons when the light came on.

Yes, 50 miles has always been when it's come on for me.
