Default Need ideas while exercising patience...

It's been a dream to own a Corvette for a long time. I have calendars and apps that count down the days until my day arrives. Now that the Z06 pricing has been released, I have considered waiting another year to buy. I don't want to settle - it means too much (just as it does for a lot of us on here). That being said, I am looking for ways to pass the time while waiting for my day to arrive. Here are few thoughts I have and would be happy to hear how you survived being a "Waiter".

1. Study the history of Corvette
1a. General knowledge and advancement of the Corvette
1b. Become a hardcore techie...
2. Visit the Corvette Museum (possible delivery place too)
3. Test drive on occasion
4. Get a friend who owns one and have him take you...well, everywhere.
5. Visit the forum often to stay in touch
6. Start an "INAV Fund" (I Need A Vette Fund) on Facebook and ask for donations (completely selfish I know but I've seen worse)
7. Get a group of other "Waiters" and keep each other accountable..."You don't really need that new TV, it takes away from your down payment"!
8. Watch a lot of YouTube videos
9. Get to know your sales person
10. Remember to Enjoy the journey...the Day Will Come!

Welcome ideas...

While I waited, I drove a Camaro for 3 1/2 years, and a C6 for 1 1/2 years. Your day will come!!! I hope sooner than later!!

I like the enthusiasm, OP.

I suggest that you buy the book Corvette Stingray: The Seventh Generation of America's Sports Car. Lots of interesting information.

Also, it would be helpful to rent a C7. But if that's not practical for you, it won't matter, because you will love this car anyway.

That actually seems pretty sensible. Enjoy a Corvette while waiting.

I spent 6 months waiting for mine last year. I passed the time by selling everything in my house and garage that I haven't used or touched in the last five years on eBay. I raised $9,800 and used that money on the my C7. It was like free money.

Do you mean taking that time to save more money?

As for exercising patience.....

I suppose I didn't really deal well with waiting. I cancelled my factory order and bought a more expensive one I found that was already on a dealer's lot.

The time well go by fast and next thing you well know your getting ready to get a C8, no big deal it well be new when you get it. Should have more cash by that time so it does not hurt so much when I write that check. Sold Craigslist 09 Z51 07/01/14, Order workbench 07/05/14, TPW 09/15/14. Patience is good because I am getting what I want and well be here in no time. Glad I waited for the 8 speed and shark Gray. Waiting

Sometimes the hunt is as enjoyable as the bagging of the car

I decided to forego the C7 and focus on seeking a 12-13 C6 Vert to enjoy for the next couple years.

Bought my first Vette a few months ago 05 Sold it for what I paid for it last week. I did not want a nine year old car. I want a car now under warranty I can flog a little and not worry about crap going wrong. And must have the creature comforts I am used to on my other rides BT USB, Updated NAV,

That said if it takes me months to find the perfect C6 and all I Want on it for the price I am willing to pay, and a 14 C7 shows up for $50K with a 2LT pack....I will have my C7 sooner. WIN WIN.In the mean time I am thoughly enjoying the hunt and living on the fumes of the 05 Vert I sold.

So here is my countdown. I have 9 groups of 100 day increments with the date of reaching the end of each group. I figure if I break up the time into increments, the time will go faster and I can "feel" like I am getting closer. Hey, just another way of creatively passing the time.
