Default Engine pre-ignition?

I bought a new C7. So at a stop light, I let out the clutch rather abruptly on accident. The engine lugged a little and when I gave it gas, the engine sounded like a diesel engine. I pushed the clutch back in immediately and the car ran perfectly fine after.

I googled this and can up with pinging, detonation, pre ingintion and knocking. Apparently all bad for the engine and now I'm worried.

Has this caused any permanent damage to the engine? Should i worry about this?

I guess it's possible the dealer filled it with 87 octane when I bought it a couple of weeks ago. Car only has 180 miles so far.

Normal for this engine. You'll get used to all the weird noises it makes.

I'd be surprised if it is pinging/pre ignition that you heard. Usually this occurs while driving, especially under throttle, and doesn't cause the engine to run rough. Not sure what happened and hopefully it won't happen again.

I too would think pinging is unlikely unless you’re using regular grade gas and your knock sensors were inoperative. Don

Don't worry about it. Any gasoline engine will do this when the RPM's are too low which is what happened when you dumped the clutch. It is not caused by low fuel octane...it is caused by driver error. Nothing was harmed unless you make a habit of doing this often; then you best trade for an automatic.

Won't happen again, I don't want an automatic.

I have a automatic and experiencing the same thing under rapid throttle application at low rpms.
