Paul, is it correct that BG has been one prodcution shift since 1987 when GM canceled the second shift? (I think there is a second maintenance shift).
I assume from GM's perspective, a second shift is out of the question?

On one hand, there goes any exclusivity, on the other hand, Corvette will live to see another year!

Part of that reason alone was probably the fact that at the reveal and every show, they only showed the Z51 and not the base car. Same for all the great reviews the car received. All were done with the Z51. I know I was sold on it after seeing it at the Chicago auto show.

I think Z51 will go down in 2015 due to the appearance package. I think a lot of 2014 Z51 buyers would have gone that route if it had been available.

Yes. It is correct. The assembly plant actually operates three ***** per day, every day but they only assemble cars on one shift. The paint shop runs across first and second and the third shift is primarily used for equipment maintenance.

For those that might know offhand, was the 2014 MY a full production year? I was under the impression the retooling took several production weeks out of the '14 availability.
Would be neat to see a production per open calendar day for each model, just to see how quickly they came off the line.

It would be interesting to know how many of the total were ordered by end users. I tend to doubt it was a big percentage, but most likely larger than proceeding years will be. Just a guess on my part tho. Those are still a very successful production number, 37,300 approx., for Corvettes considering where it's been going for the last three years.

I would have loved the Brownstone interior, but I wasn't going to spend the $8k to get it by going to 3LT instead of my 1LT. The performance options are what I was really after.

I also find it rather interesting that despite people in here saying that the Z51 is just an option package, which technically it is, GM considers it a separate model of the C7.

If you look at the link, GM refers to the production breakdown as stingray coupe/ convertible w/z51.....Not as z51 stingray coupe/ convertible...
