I could do this job in 4 hours and I'm a computer guy not a mechanic. 3 hours or less for brake work and 1 hour stopping to sip beer. Quoting 10 hours is simply a rip off or Crack smoking.

Easy swap for someone who has experience working on brakes. If you got both cars up on a lift next to each other, shouldn't take more than a few hours. Find a local performance shop and get a quote from them.
Stay away from caliper covers; cheap looking and dangerous if you ask me.

One hour for everything?
I've worked on a lot of different vehicles over a lot of years and I have a lot of tools, but 1 hour to swap 4 calipers and have them bled? So, jack up a corner, remove the tire/wheel, disconnect & remove caliper, install and hook up new caliper, bleed, and reinstall tire/wheel in 15 minutes? If you're that fast you should be on TV or something.
When it comes time for new brakes on the C7 I'll drive it over to your side of the mountains and watch you while I drink a beer or two.

Only two? I bet you can drink more than that in the time it takes to do one caliper (and you can drink them at a leisurely pace)
I would have wanted my calipers orange but no option. I will take the time to pull the calipers off and have them orange powder coated when I have the time and can live without the car for a day or two.

Are caliper colors really that big a deal for you?? Seriously, it's just a break, do you spend an enormous amount of time staring at your breaks? Leave it along and enjoy all of the other beautiful aspects of the vehicle instead of seconding guessing the color choice of a caliper....it's really silly.

I stuck with the standard black calipers on my Stingray while a good friend of mine paid for red calipers on his black Stingray.
Later on I decided I should have gotten red calipers instead, and he coincidentally decided he should have gotten black ones instead.
So I called a local Chevy dealership asking them for an appointment and an estimate to swap each of our calipers, and they said it would be about a 10 hour job, which makes it not so attractive anymore.
Does this estimate sound right?
I saw an aftermarket "caliper cover" in red or black for the C7, which basically goes over the standard calipers and also claims to reduce brake dust. It was for $200 + shipping etc. Now I'm starting to consider that. Does anyone have experience with it? Does it reduce brake dust? Do you need to do anything about brake dust building up inside the aftermarket caliper cover?

Maybe you should just keep the calipers black but change out the gray 'Corvette' lettering and stensil that in red.......maybe.

Even if it was charged as a 10 hour job, wouldn't you only be paying for half the cost and your friend the other half?
You would be getting red calipers for around $500 which is what the rest of us paid when we purchased.
Don't see the problem or why you could have a complaint.

10 hours seems a bit long. I had my oil pan gasket replaced last spring and it took the mechanic about 5 hours start to finish. He had to put in an engine support, and completely drop the sub-frame and then put it all back together. I haven't changed out brake calipers, but it seems to me to be a simpler job, but maybe not.

For the first time, I'm considering matching up black wheels on a Corvette. I'm leaning towards Crystal Red and I'm having the same dilemma over caliper color. I like the red ones, but not sure if the black would be a better choice with black wheels. It would also be nice if GM offered matching caliper colors for all exterior color options as the red calipers are Torch Red and I'm not sure if I want to match those with Crystal Red.

10 hours is definitely high. Also the powdercoat looks better than OEM.
Most in my club have used Mike and believe he is the best!
