Any idea when the C7 version of the ZR1 will be introduced and produced? I own a 1966 Corvette from new and would like to have
a 2016 C7 version ZR1. Fifty years apart would be nice to have in the garage. And better yet to drive.

They haven't announced plans, but I'm sure it is in the works and expect to see it around 2018. Likely the 700+ horse twin turbo GM is working up for the Caddy me thinks.

Which Caddy?
Contrary to media reports in 2013 that GM was going to build a twin-turbo V8 CTS-V, I thought it was already announced by GM that the CTS-V will have the LT4.
My personal opinion is that they won't be building a ZR1. But I was off by ~$6k on the Z06's base MSRP, so who knows, lol.

In a way, I don’t care, if they go to a hybrid in the future that is world class in terms of performance and is competitively priced, I can live with that. Do
Trust me, it is not happening.... With the Z06, why bother ???
100%.
Anything approaching 700hp really needs AWD especially in the wet, or when it gets cooler out. These days it's easy to make horsepower, but putting it to the ground is another story. I had a 700+hp ZO6 so talking from experience.
In four years the Z is going to be old news and many manufacturers will have surpassed the 'paltry' 650/650 benchmark. Plus, all the people bitching about how heavy the Z is before it is even out... Gives them some room in the budget for more carbon fiber and ponies at a higher cost to keep up with the Joneses.
Anyone who thinks the Hellcat is "outdoing" Corvette is a clown. The Z51 will walk all over a Hellcat in the arena the Corvette was designed to fight in, closed course race tracks. The Hellcat is a grocery getter on steroids while the C7 os a track bred car made for turning and getting around twisties as capably as possible. The Z06 is a more extreme version of that mentality. Too many people put stake in a horsepower number that doesnt reflect anything but gross power output.
The Z06 is perfectly placed. The 650/650 numbers are truly immense and the fact that the car is designed to hatness that power reliably and confidently is amazing. All the reviews of the Hellcat basically say that it handles like an old school muscle car and not a modern sports car. Anyone cross shopping the two is obviously not a true car person because they serve two entirely different roles. If GM is worried about horsepower figures all they need to advertise against the Hellcat is the 0-60 and quarter times for the Z06...707hp doesnt sound that awesome when a stock Z51 with a "paltry" 455hp can post the same 0-60 as the 707hp Hellcat.
The only competition for the Z06 are cars that cost much much more than the 79k starting price.
