i have become totally cynical of the corvette price game. at first, the new c7's were being sold above list, then as a nice gesture, as things slowed msrp was acceptable. many spoke of supplier discounts(how much did you save)? then started seeing discounts of 1,000-2,000. now forum vendors are discounting 6,000. if you paid list or above for your c7, and want to trade it or sell it, what value is there in a car already outdated(new a-8 trans). there were twice as many c-7's made, then the last 2 years of the c-6. i own my vettes and have no intention of replacing them. i know these are toy's, not collectables. but come on who is kidding who! like i said before, the beanie baby crazy was insane. have a garage full. enjoy your new toy, they are great looking, but not good value for the money.
There's a bunch of people with a really nice car that they really like. There's value in that. The alternative is being miserable and stuck with a car that is not as good and trying to convince people that its a good thing.

This. I read the OP several times and have no idea what his point is. Can't tell if he's lecturing GM, those of us who've bought a C7 (as I don't think the OP has), or both. If he wasn't so far away I'd offer him some cheese to go with his whine.
I'm happy with my C7 and what I paid for it. I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks of the car or the price.
A new car is outdated every twelve months. You either get off the porch and play the game or keep on rocking. The rules have been the same since Ford quit making the Model A.

Those of us waiting for the Z06 will go thru the same process. So what. It's all part of getting and enjoying our new awesome rides. If you want to sit on the sidelines, by all means do.
I'm sorry, but that is the way of the lousy, cheesy, greedy, short sighted capitalist country we live in. Same thing happened to my new toaster, I'm PO'ed!

What's your point, besides to justify to yourself and everyone why you didn't buy a C7?
A person doesn't buy a brand new sports car because he's looking for a "good value for the money", although the C7 certainly is pretty good on that within the sports car market. You pay a premium to get something hot right when it comes out; that's nothing new. Some people have the expendable income to do it and not care, while others don't... that's just the way the world works. Don't get all insecure and make these little underhanded jabs at people who are just trying to mind their own business and enjoy their cars.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
