I apologize in advance if this is a dumb question...I am new to the forum and to Corvettes in general. About 3 weeks ago I took delivery of of a 2014 vert from a dealer that rhymes with Schmerbeck. The salesman was great, the process was smooth. Since it was kind of an unexpected, immediate purchase, I asked the finance person if I could purchase the wheel/tire insurance when I picked it up a few days later...and he said "absolutely". I have leased and purchased a lot of cars in the last 15 years...and living in NJ with it's lovely roads, I always purchase the wheel insurance.
The day I picked it up, he was too busy to sell me the insurance...and promised he would send me the paperwork in the next day or so. Almost a month later...and after many calls to my sales person, I have yet to receive anything. My sales person says he has asked numerous times and the finance guy is still "too busy".
My questions are...and please excuse my ignorance...first, I thought that tire/wheel insurance was a pretty good profit generator, so why would he not want to sell the insurance? Second...do I have to get the insurance at my purchasing dealer? I always added it at closing, so I am not sure how it works otherwise. Third, If I can..can i do it with an out of state dealer that perhaps is one of the dealers that is active on this forum?
Thanks in advance...BTW...the car is absolutely amazing...and this forum has been a great resource for a new Corvette owner like me.

Call Ken Fichtner at Fichtner Chevrolet in MT. 406-628-4618
The roll-out of the new Stingray has been a boon for the large volume dealers. Sales have tripled and the large volume dealers are swamped with new orders. I had a similar experience last year when I sent an e-mail to the dealer I bought from(he's located between Vermont and Maine) with an inquiry about the clear bra he sold me. He replied that he was swamped selling new Stingrays and suggested I search the internet. (the question was 'which product did you sell me?', so the internet was useless!)
I was stunned by the response and it may cost him a future sale, but that was the response. The profit from selling a new car is a lot greater than things like wheel insurance, I would guess. I'm not excusing the poor customer service, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Good luck finding another source.

I agree, you can buy from other than selling dealer, Ken Fichtner will treat you right. By the way, it is no longer Fichtner Chevrolet. But Ken is the GM for the new owners.

I see you have numerous replies, my question is how much is the tire warranty they are offering you? Thanks!
I emailed Ken yesterday, and as soon as I hear back from him, I will post. The finance guy in NJ would not quote me the exact amount for the insurance, which I expected to get when I picked up the car, which obviously never happened. From past experience with BMW, Audi and Porsche the insurance should run in the $1000-$1500 range for three years of protection....no deductible, no maximum claims. Hopefully I will hear back soon.
DCinNJ,
Did you receive a reply from me?
If not, please email me again with your needs and I will reply promptly. kenfichtner@rimrockauto.com
Have a great day!

Strongly suggest before you buy, you get a copy of the actual warranty and read it. It has exclusions and limitations, so be sure you can live with them.
