That's a good number of miles for that, especially with some hills (they aren't real mountains ) to go over, and rolling up and down for darn-near the rest!
Way to go.
I'm packing as we speak for a trip from DC to Albuquerque, down to El Paso then up to the Dakotas, so even though I didn't buy it for gas mileage, it doesn't hurt to get what you can, especially on long trips!
All highway is one thing. Combined is totally different. My Cruze LT will get 42 on the hwy but around town combines its more like 31 and thats conservative driving. My C6 didn't get any better than 18.5 combined city/hwy.

It depends how you drive in town though. I'm not an aggressive driver for the most part (usually shift at about 2000 rpm), and I've been averaging between 24 to 25 MPG this summer in mixed driving with my C6 (using non ethanol gas mind you) and on the highway if I keep it closer to 60, it's in the 33-35 MPG range (best ever is 37.1!) MPG is one of those things that is very dependent on the driver, and road conditions also play a huge factor too. Drive on a lot of hilly roads and MPG is going to be way worse. I'm pretty lucky that it's mostly flat in my travels around here.
Average miles per gallon from Iowa to Washington DC and back. I think that is outstanding for a 455 HP automatic.
Your not getting your fair share of gasoline! Purchase a gas-o-matic kit and your mileage will drop to below 9 mpg. I got my mileage down to 10 mpg. With a little adjusting I hope to get milage down to below 8 mpg. (I normally get around 22 to 24 mpg, I have seen 29 in the last 50 miles). Great mileage!
