C7
C1 (something about the scalloped rear)
C2 (split window action on '63 and love the speedo and tach needles on '63'64)
C5
C3
C6 (generic looking)
C4
Hard to fathom how anyone can look at a C5 sitting next to a C1 and think the C5 looks better, but totally understand it's all in the eye of the beholder.
You would have to ask the same question of all the others ranked above the C1 as well ,,no? Singling out the C5 is just rude>>>>yes I own one and forgive me for checking out the Camaro/Ferrari forum!!
The C5 was the first time I was able to afford a new Corvette and came a long at a time of general resurgence of more powerful engines. Yes I know there were others and there were earlier ones but this is combined with the fact that it was the first time I could actually buy one.
C6. Nice and if I did not already have a C5 at the time might have bought one...but since I already had a C5, it seemed like too much of an evolutionary car and not a big enough step up.
C7 - got me lusting after a new one again...and here we are.
So:
C2
C7
C5/6 - seem like almost the same car to me
C1 - got to love the original from a nostalgia point of view
C4
C3 - a 1970's mobile
i understand your favoring your first new corvette. but i will say that ANYONE that can afford a C5 or C6, today, buys the C6 everytime unless they cannot afford a C6z then they buy a C5z....
i for one love the evolved and almost perfected generation cars.. not evolutionary.. as with the C4/C7, the C7 may not age all that well... to me it's reminding me more and more of the C3's... appearance wise.. and on the inside, the C4's and neither of those (couple stand alone models withstanding) didn't age too gracefully.. 1969-1970 C3's and all ZR-1's and the '96 GS being the exceptions

NO its not "rude" here in the C7 forum. Howevrr It would be "dumb" in the C5 forum to single out C5 that way. This thread is all about our personal opinions on which generation we think looks better than another. Why are you calling me rude for liking the C1 more than C5? I can't voice my ranking in words?

I also don't think it would be rude ranking a C1 ahead of a C5 in the C5 section. Since when do the different sections preclude us from expressing an opinion?
And just because someone ranks the C1 ahead of the C5, that doesn't mean they don't like the C5. I think Scarlet Johansson is more attractive than Jennifer Lawrence, but I still think Jennifer Lawrence is a babe

If I started with, "C5 is a nice looking car, but..." would that have been better?

Sure you can ! My point was that the C1 was at the bottom of the list that you referenced meaning that every other generation was ranked above it. You were incredulous as how anyone could find C5 parked beside a C1 to be more attractive.... Had you said the same about the other generations including yours, than it would have been a fair comment. That's all! Have a great day!
1956 and 1964 for car shows/cruises

I don't buy cars that I don't like the appearance of. I guess that's why I have owned every generation of the Corvette except for the C4 and C7.
But, putting them in order is difficult for me, so I guess my wallet does the choosing for me, thus I currently own a C1(1956), a C2(19640 and a C6(Z06).

No, all I was referencing was C5 over C1, so the comment would have applied to a list like the example below, meaning I was NOT incredulous to the fact the C5 could be #1 on anyone's list, ONLY to the fact it was above the C1. How anyone can interpret that as even unfair is hard to believe.
I realize this is an old thread but, I'll chime in just for fun.
I would rank the Corvette generations appreance as follows:
C2 - by far the best looking Corvette!
C7
C4
C3 - Plastic bumper
C3 - Chrome bumper
C1
C6
C5
I've never really liked the look of the C5 although I do respect that is was a huge leap forward in technology. I love the mid year Corvettes they have amazing styling!
