Once a week or every other I try and pop the hood and wipe everything down to keep the dust/dirt down. Well I noticed that my red Corvette lettering on the Engine cover is flaking off very badly.
I can touch it with my hand and it comes off. Looks awful now
Wasnt sure if anyone else experienced this. Figured Dealer might put up a stink about replacing it, might be worth getting some vinly cut to put over the embossed letters.
all 3 of mine on the same passenger side . just had them replace them .my 3rd one i checked on the floor and sure enough ......salesman said he would order one i said nope take one off another vette . he did

2015 C7, mine looked bad when flaking. Now look good because all the paint flaked off. Not gonna touch it...
My 2014 had the peeling issue. Out of warranty so I just removed the remaining paint with fingernail polish remover. Looks fine without the red letters.
I got a paint pen at Home Depot and repainted them.
I've had my covers replace once on my 2016, but the paint has peeled off already. Would you give me more info on the "paint pen" and how long since you painted the lettering - is it still okay?
I just ordered a set off of Amazon that is being fulfilled by Cultrag. The cost for both of them was only around $70 and I had a gift card, so they were free. I will pop them on and see how long they last. In the meantime, I can play around with the original set and maybe have them custom painted somewhere.
My fix was to remove the failing letter paint, paint entire surface black, apply painters tape to lettering then repaint entire cover in red.
I have an AARP card so I can own a C7 and spend lots of time playing!

I was thinking about replacing the stock fuel rail covers with CF and painting the center section to match car.
I just took a gamble on the color and it turned out very close - not good enough certainly for touch up paint or anything like that, but fine for this application. It’s been approx 4 months since I did it and it still looks great.
I know this is an old thread but I opened up my hood for the first time and I seen the peeling. So I'm going to try to scratch it off and then paint it a dark blue I think that'll go nice with the steel metallic blue color of the car.
