Some people don't need or want track parts, but like a certain wheel's look, or a spoiler's visual queue. I doubt anybody ordering that package is running around in the hopes they convince someone they checked a different option box. When you're dropping usually 60 grand or so (average C7 transaction), I don't quite think it's a matter of attainability, versus one of simple necessity.

I did not want to order a 2015 and wait. The dealer had the base 2015 with the appearance package in stock and I liked the color and wheels and bought it. Not trying to pose...
Just like when I sold my GT500 I did not buy and put a Cobra emblem on my regular GT. A poser is someone who but parts and sticks them on their car where as mine came from the factory this way.
I liked the look of the Z51 but had no plans to track it so why would I want bigger brakes etc.. It made a lot of sense given the 5 spoke chromes on the base model which didn't include the spoiler would be $2k by themselves for a bit more you got the larger tires, rims and spoiler. ZF1 was perfect for me, glad I got it...

this has been done for decades. When the C5 Z06 was introduced, many liked the Z06 rims; and put them on their non-Z06 C5's. No one had a problem with that; except for a few who live an identity-crisis type life.
When I was a kid, my dad bought new '65 Chevelle with a 283 engine. After I got my driver's license, I bought a set of aluminum dish "Astro" mag wheels, removed the "283" emblems from the front fenders, and bolted on some "327" emblems. Instant transformation. I was able to park with the "cool" guys.
The ZF1 appearance package is something like that. Now, wait. When I order my C7 in the spring time, I WILL order the ZF1 appearance package. I like the looks and I like the price. My priorities have changed.

Well kinda, but the ZF1 has just as much horsepower as the Z51, just smaller brakes etc.. Really not a pretender at all, it stills pulls over a G in a corner. It is a ZF1, there is no Z51 model after all, it's an option only. The Z06 will actually come out of the plant with a Z06 on the side, it is a model not just an option.
Yes the ride is great, after having been in any number of 'Vettes over the years I am really pleasantly surprised by the C7 and how refined the ride is. Real pleasure to drive.
I should get a ZF1 logo to put on the side, heh that's the ticket , actually it has a better ring to it than Z51

I wanted the wheels and the spoiler, will probably add the Z51 sway bars later as I did with my 08. I have no interest in the drysump oil system or the heavier brakes and rotors....
Just waiting for the next allocation from my dealer, I'm next in line...
