Default Price Protection

For those who have taken delivery and were price protected:

Did your dealer deduct the extra $1,000 off the sales price for your payment due on delivery? Or did they make you pay that extra $1,000 and be reimbursed upon them receiving the money back from GM?

Reimbursed here, not a big deal. I got a good price and service so I was fine waiting.

I haven't gotten it yet and its been around 10 days. They didn't make it sound like it would be that long but I have to think your talking 30 days when dealing with a large company like GM to issue checks.

Price was adjusted before completing the paperwork. I didn't even have to ask.

You'll never get the tax back you paid on the 1K if it was not adjusted prior to completed transaction.

My dealer played dumb and tried to make me pay the extra $1,000. I felt he was trying to screw me, so I held extremely firm with him. I presented the owner with copies of the GM letter as well as the original price and the August 4th price.
He did not want bad marks on his report so he finally gave in.

I got $3,500 off the old msrp plus tax and fees.

The car comes in to the dealership at the current price. If it was price protected, the dealer has to request a rebate/reimbursement from GM.

I paid the current price; with my dealer guaranteeing I will get the funds when they do. I only agreed to this because I have a long term relationship with this dealer.

I don't know how long the process takes; it's only been a little over a week since I took delivery.

I placed a deposit of $1000 on July 9, 2014 with my dealer. I knew nothing about price protection and nothing was discussed. Do you think that I should get price protection and where can I get the GM letter mentioned? I need to get informed and I'm still waiting for an allocation.

My dealer took it out before the paperwork was done without me bringing it up. It $880 off due to the credit union discount.

What would happen if the dealer ordered as stock instead of sold? I gave them a deposit.

It has to show as a SOLD unit prior to 8-4-14. If not, your out of luck and will pay the increase.

I understand what you say but this would be the dealers error not mine.

I placed an order on 6/30 with dealer and got allocation on 7/21. I gave them a $5k deposit. It is not my fault that they chose retail stock instead of sold. I will not let them get away with the extra $1K. Any suggestions?

My question is if you have such a great relationship with the dealer, why is he not giving you the correct pre-price increase price now?

My dealer wanted me to wait and we have a great relationship as well, but I said no. He finally gave me the correct price.

Is your dealer going to refund you the sales tax as well?

Just being a former dealer, I do not trust dealers in general.

Yes i was the type of dealer that mainly looked at the bottom line.

My Stingray was price protected on the first $2000 price increase, so dealer reduced the sticker price by that amount, and I did not pay tax on it.
The dealer is invoiced at the current sticker price, and gets a "credit" back, and not an actual cash refund... If the original buyer backs out of the deal and the car is sold to another buyer, then the price reverts back to the higher MSRP.

Elliot; valid question.

My 2015 was ordered via the d-e-e-p-e-s-t discount available; GM Employee. There's no room in the deal for any errors or mishaps.

They placed my order for a brand new 2015 on the first day allowed, and assigned their first allocation to this order on the first day possible, and in writing said it would be a GMS deal. This was my second time of doing exactly that on a new Corvette through them. If for some strange reason GM balks on the price protection totally & completely; I can not fault the dealer (and I'm still way ahead on the deal).

FYI; I won't get the full $1000; as the GMS discount on that is $875'ish

Ordered 6/14, car built (9/12)--dealer called me when the increase took place and told me I am price protected.
