Default Electronics re-boot?

While this issue may have shown up on another thread or sticky, I don't recall seeing it so will tell my recent story here.

My C7 is 11 months old today (VIN 1818) has the Z51 option and currently at 4500 miles. I love the car, and recently had its first oil service done. At that time the dealership re-flashed the infotainment screen to correct the dim lighting at dusk and early morning. Everything seemed great, and have been motoring along for the past few weeks loving the better lighting during these times.

Last Friday on my way home from work - in traffic - the HUD and dash speedometer/tach got stuck at 23 mph. I accelerated, decelerated - no change. Then suddenly the entire display went blank, except for the infotainment stack. It was black for a few seconds, then seemingly re-booted; it said the radio was off, even though the radio was playing, then seemed to 'right' itself altogether and show the radio data as well. No problems after and drove it quite a bit this weekend.

Question - has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone know if the system has a quirk knows to re-boot itself? Seems odd, but it is as though it knew what to do. Any thoughts?

Mine did the same thing. Came up to a red light the DIC went black for a few seconds then came right back on. Hasn't done it since but haven't put many miles on it. 2500 miles have had the dim light reflash done and vin 2585

I have observed that historical information (fuel mileage, trip odometers, etc.) have reset. It has never done it while driving, but seems do it in a background mode (car parked). Wondered about the reboot question as well.

Just another data point: Mine did this this morning on the way in to work; first time I've ever seen it. Nearly identical situation as Jimbo: Z51 with 5,200 miles on it, serviced once about a month ago, delivered 7/1. IP just blinked out, reset, came back. Will see if it happens again and have it looked at next time at service if it recurs.

Just think computer. My AC was screwed up yesterday, environmental in auto just put out heat. I went to manual and got the heat down but no AC. Shut the car down and when restarted all was fine. First time it did that. (vin #22487)

Mine did it at about 2500 miles. The electronics all went blank. The analog gauges continued to work. When I got home I stopped and then restarted the car and everything worked. No problem since. Dealer reflashed at first oil change because of a work order. Now when using the Nav the miles to destination are off by about 2 to 4 miles until you get to less than a quarter mile. Dealer reflashed but problem remains. Maybe that is the accuracy of the system, but I did not seem to notice it before the reflash to fix the first problem.

My infotainment screen goes black for 5-10 seconds about once a week. VIN is 18,000. Would this warrant a reflash...

Could this be happening because the car is being interrogated by OnStar?

If that was the case there would be far more instances of the issue. I have not experienced it.

Mine started doing this. Took it to the dealership and they re-flashed something. So far, so good. I don't have my paperwork on me, and don't remember exactly what they re-flashed.

I too have any 11 month old car, vin # 3385. The only issue is the dim dash at dusk. I have put off the reflash until something more critical was needed. I think I will hold out, I like to leave "well enough along. I did the oil change and mag plug install at 1k myself.

i will live with the random dim dash rather than re-flashing, it doesn't bother me at all when it's dim and it doesn't happen all the time.

Mine did the SAME exact thing last Friday. THe radio never stopped playing, and the car drove just fine however, all of the electronics booted down.. even the manual gauges booted down, then about 3 seconds latter, everything went through the booting sequence you would see when starting the car. It was F**king wild, and scared the bajesus out of me. I drove into the dealer first thing, and scheduled an appointment for Friday morning. I took delivery on my car Oct/2013

I am concerned as well about a reflash for dim dash on my low vin(0941) C7. I'm bringing it in for a frayed seatbelt (guide cuts into it), and thought I should get the reflash done as well. Any new horror stories on this issue?
