C7 unacceptable interior noise
#23
I have a 2014 3LT Z51 and it is the quietest vette I've owned so far. With the exhaust control turned on it is less noisy then my 2013 Subaru Crosstrek on the highway. If you can, like earlier suggestions, try and test drive another C7. I'm also thinking torque tube or something along that line.

I agree the road noise is more than I expected at about 60.

My C7 is quiet even at 85 and 90. I would contact Customer Service on here by PM and they should help. They are usually pretty good at helping customers get resolution to a problem.
Some dealers don't want to be bothered. By going through customer service, you get a case number and establish a paper trail.

I have a 3LT coupe no. z51.
I am 69 and yes i have.lost some hering, but at 70 mph the radio has to be up around 3/4 to here some of it. My wifes Maurano is about one third as noisy (good year tires) , my Silverado is the best.of them all, very acceptable.
The first new corvett I've had, i dont know if i can do a long trip without ear muffs. Just the 150 miles between our 2 homes makes me want to take the truck instead.

Never heard anything like a whine from mine, just normal road noise the varies with the road texture.

I recently purchased a C-7 LT3 Z-51 Coupe that is a fabulous car with one exception---the interior noise at 60 mph is so bad I can't carry on a conversation with my wife, listen to the radio or make phone calls. The differential has been replaced and the improvement was slight at best. I am pursuing a solution through GM but am being told this is just the way it is. I don't believe that---and I don't think this is tire noise--it is a whine that increases with rpm. Has anyone else had that problem and what was the solution. I can't keep the car if it can't be fixed.
In other words, if you stayed in one gear and raised the RPM, then let off the gas, does the Whine go up and down strictly according to RPM.
As in, this would happen if you did this in any gear.
Or ... does is "steadily" rise only as the car goes faster.

Corvettes are probably some of the loudest or noisest cars made. Some see this as a plus, others are shocked by it......... The ex use to have a lexus, get out of the vette and get into to that. It was a whole different world.
Some say its part of the sports car experience........... but yeah, they are loud. always have been.
Sometimes you don't want a rough riding, noisy, cramped car........ That's when you leave the vette at the house. and take the lexus.

Something definatly not right here. Mine is a Z 51 coupe and I get no "whine" at any speed. Chip & seal road surfaces are way more noisy than blacktop or concrete but 60 mph conversations are no problem. I took a neighbor for a ride and he was impressed on how much quieter the c 7 was over his c 5.

Very well said. For many, the audio shock comes when you transition from blacktop to concrete. From hum to HOWL. On asphalt the Corvette is a quiet cruiser -- that's what makes, IMHO, a ride on concrete so annoying. It's such a contrast.

I apologize for the interior noise you're experiencing and understand any displeasure this causes. I would like the opportunity to investigate this situation further if you could contact us privately. There may be a chance that you already have a GM case open with us, but I can confirm that if you include your contact information in the message.

This is very simple...these cars are very quiet on smooth roads and very loud on rough or grooved surfaces. If you are accustomed to a big Audi or Lexus type sedan.....every car seems "loud". This forum is correct. Insist on driving the same type of car on the same roads and you will know what to do.

Drifting
I recently had an opportunity to spend some extended seat time in a June 14 production 3LT, Z51, MSRC, 7 SPD and noticed significant rear end whine that increased/decreased with RPM...it was excessiviely loud IMHO. I told my buddy to get this to a dealer soonest...by way of reference I'm the original owner of a 2004 Z06 so

Drifting
It may be the runflats. Others have reported a ride and noise improvement going to an AS tire that isn't a runflat. Usually if it's drivetrain noise like a improper ring and pinion set up the noise will come and go with the throttle. If you let off the gas or get on the gas and the noise doesn't change it may be the tire related.
