Default Order Accepted

Just got a call from my local dealer…GM has accepted my order (even with a painted roof) with an expected TPW the latter part of Oct.!!
Got a color change in just in time: Went from Shark Gray/Kalahari to Blade Silver/Jet Black.
Think I'm excited? I already have Lloyd's Mats (floor & cargo) and a solid plate frame in hand and a new iPod Nano is on its way to me.
It will be a happy Thanksgiving!!

Grats. It's nice your dealer called you. I always have to keep calling them for updates which they never know. I was told 4 weeks till I get the car, but it's been almost 8 weeks now and still not at the dealership. Least chevy.com tells me the car is sitting and waiting to be picked up for delivery though no one can tell me when that would happen. I did get a laugh when I told them I could track a 5 buck package at the post office but can't seem to track a 60k car.

I am in the same boat. 9 weeks and live chat cannot tell me when it will leave the factory. I at event code 4000. My dealer is 8 miles away. They do not have a clue either.

Congrats, Art! Great call on the color change; Blade Silver/Jet Black is an excellent combo on the Stingray. I'm looking forward to seeing your car once you get it!

After I just bashed the dealer saying i've been waiting for 8 weeks, they just called me tonight and said it was ready to pick up. They just need to put the spoiler on the car so tomorrow I get mine. Yours is coming olympic!

I ordered mine with a "glass" roof but GM apparently just missed it. Car is on the truck with color matched roof according to the invoice. Dealer is ordering the glass. I mentioned that I was surprised as the color matched is on allocation. He told me that color matched is not and hasn't been on allocation.
What do you folks make of that?
Patiently waiting Phil (okay not so patiently!! but its got to be close)

I agree. While I love my NRB, if I had to do it over, it'd be a toss between the NRB and Blade Silver. Great choice!!!

The painted roof panel has been on 35% constraint. That means that only 35% of orders have been able to include it. In other words, availability of the painted roof panel (RPO CFA) has been limited.

Regarding your order, while anything is possible I highly doubt that GM made a mistake on your build. What's much more likely is that the dealer entered your order incorrectly and that GM built your car exactly as the dealer entered. it.

Constraint is a limit on an ordered option. Sometimes it's 0 and nobody can order it. More commonly, it's a percentage of production for the 2 week period covered by the allocation consensus. For instance, as mentioned by mpuzach, painted standard roofs are at 35%, as they have for the entire model year. So, approximately 1/3 of the vette coupes in this period can have a standard roof. Visible CF roofs are at 20%, so a little quick math says at least 45% of the period's coupe production will be transparent roofs.

Another commonly ordered option, the Z51 package has been and remains constrained at 55%. So out of every 100 vettes off the line, only 55 can be Z51s. Much better than last year, when it was as low as 25% or occasionally 0.

As mentioned, your dealer screwed up the order, and it was one of the 35% that was allocated to receive solid painted roofs. Just my $0.02 worth, but I would keep the painted roof, and make the dealer sell you a transparent one at cost, to make up for their screw-up. Even if you don't use the extra roof much, it adds to the resale value down the line.

Happened to me that way. Had to re-order.
