Thought I'd stir the pot a bit. Given the concerns / discussions had regarding what the future regulatory environment will be like, could it be feasible to see an electric car as the next gen Corvette?
I can see it now....
News Flash! The year is 2019. GM to buy Tesla and produce the first ever electric Corvette!

tesla has a valuation larger than gm so that would be tough, but an ev c8 might be cool if done right
Cash and Short Term Investments (YE 2013): Tesla ... $848.9 Million GM ...... $30.24 Billion
So, GM has almost 36 times more cash available than does Tesla.
sorry i ment on a price to book ratio
tesla price to book 57.4
gm price to book 1.31
it would be hard for a company like GM to absorb a company like tesla with price to book that high and a forward price to earnings of 236
the purchase would not be accreative for years
All-electric has huge performance potential .. 100% torque from 0 rpm. But battery technology has a long way to go to support a true performance car ..
I see lot of members from Canada and those of us in the north. Electric cars simply do not work in our winters.
We have a fleet of cars at work that may sit outside for 2 or 3 weeks in bitter weather and they start up!!!! That always amazes me!!! Try that with an electric. Plus electric prices are soaring and will continue to do so. Finally the gooberment will need to slap on a road tax on electrics at some point to make up for lost gas tax.
When these additional costs are factored in and when the gooberment stops the subsidies I;m thinking the fate of the electrics will be the same as it was 100 years ago.
Now hydrogen or natural gas.......... could be a game changer.
Although I don't see this happening for the C8, I would be interested in a hybrid corvette. Better performance and twice the gas mileage....hell ya I am in.
