While at work I got my Museum Delivery Acknowledgement Form and instead of working I started dreaming 6-7 weeks ahead about taking delivery and I came across this....
I will be driving the car from Bowling Green, to Atlanta. Now there is a ton of "opportunity" for me to get nice little knicks in the front bumper.
Has anybody covered the front end in painters tape or anything like this for the maiden voyage home?
I am sure lots of people have... I saw a photo of a forum member that did put tape on the front end, and I have a friend that took tools to install a bra on the front end before the drive back to Texas. Plus, there is also a product made to protect on the track...
The 6-7 weeks will fly by. Put over 1600 mile after musem delivery to get home and not a mark. Drive it, enjoy it.

I drove mine home from Bowling Green to WA State (2700 miles), and even though I ran into hail and 90 mph winds in Nebraska, made it home without a nick. I don't know why your drive home would be any more hazardous that the miles you'll put on it when you get home! Don't worry, enjoy your drive.
We shipped splash guards to the museum and the were installed before delivery, also brought stretch bra and installed before leaving BG. Great 3100 miles back to Boise, sun rain small hail but not mark. Great way to spend 16 days
Forum member romaja used painter's tape for his 2500 mile journey home and it worked great. He's on this forum quite a lot so hopefully he'll chime in.
Mine. Built 9/10 but traveling with my 13 yo son, and this was a good weekend. Also going with a good friend and his son, his was just built this week, and that weekend worked for him too. The wait is killin' me!
Drove about 950 miles from NCM to Houston, Natchez Trace Parkway for a couple of hundred miles, then interstates the rest of the way. No scratches, blemishes, etc.
I flew out from Washington State and picked my car up in Michigan. I used 3m painters tape. I brought a spray bottle with a 50/50 mix of water and alcohol. I wiped down the area before I applied the tape to get good adhesion. I didn't get a nick and had the car wrapped with Xpel when I returned home.
...........Drive the car and enjoy it. Worrying about the little stuff just gets in the way of the fun.
Three vettes driven back to Houston from BG and not a mark. Way too much worrying about what might happen. More likely that marks will come after reaching home so why sweat it.

Ordered my C7 with TPW of 10/20. Haven't heard anything else yet. Needless to say delivery couldn't be soon enough. Doing RC8 for the first time. Been debating what to do about road hazards like others, but I don't think I'm going to get carried away about it. Road hazards can happen every time you drive your Vette. I bought my first new Vette December 24, 2006. What a Christmas present. I live NW of philly and purchased the car at Kerbeck's in Atlantic City. Only about a 70 mile drive. The temp was in the 50's so no worry about ice or snow. Chance of rain according to the weather report. I test drove the car with sun shining looked like a great day to buy and drive home a new Corvette. By the time I started home, after paperwork etc., it started pouring rain. Going down AC expressway barely able to go 40 mph cause the rain was so hard. Next thing you know a rock comes flying up, not sure from where or what, splat right in the middle of the windshield. Not even 10 miles on the car yet and a cracked windshield.
Never happened again after 60000 miles of driving before selling it back in August in prep for ordering a C7 Z51 coupe. Go figure.

Or any other sugguestions besides car hauler?
Cheers
I picked my C6 up at the museum and they discouraged me from putting anything on the front and told me that it would adversely affect the paint. Blah Blah Blah. So that is what I did. Then on the way home to Texas, I got rocks pitting the front end and a busted windshield. I wish I had listened to myself and put the nose bra and mirror covers I had brought with me. Never again will I listen to others regarding the care of my Corvettes when I know the roads and dangers .

Spray on 3M paint Defender! You will certainly want to use something as have just returned to Fl. from BG as there is a lot of road construction going on esp in Tenn. Lot's of traffic tie ups which come to a standstill. Wouldn't go below 1/4 tank either.
