I picked my new 2015 Stingray up on friday 10/3. When I got home and started washing the car I noticed this paint chip (see pics). I have contacted (emailed) the dealer to see what can be done about this. But incase the dealer says you're SOL for this, what can I do to fix it?
I picked my new 2015 Stingray up on friday 10/3. When I got home and started washing the car I noticed this paint chip (see pics). I have contacted (emailed) the dealer to see what can be done about this. But incase the dealer says you're SOL for this, what can I do to fix it?
Dr. Colorchip is your friend. I know that chip is irritating as can be, but don't let it bug you. Paint chips are just an ugly fact of life, but a little touchup paint and no one will ever know.
If paint chips bug you too badly, then XPEL film will go a long way toward preventing them in the future. Be prepared to shell out a sizable chunk of money, however, to cover the whole car.
Lesson for the rest of us - go over the car very carefully before accepting delivery. I have been know (when taking a test drive) to take the car home and wash it - pretty well guarantees you will look at every inch of the car.

Sure doesn't look like a rock chip, so the dealer should fix it. Almost looks like it was hit with a grinder/sander/buffer? Also, is that another small chip about 5" or 6" to the right on the bottom picture?
Yeah I really wish I examined the whole car top to bottom, corner to corner.
It definitely doesn't look like a rock hit it, so I am guessing this is how it came to the dealer. Hopefully they fix it for me or else I will be really mad that I have to fix it on my own.
I also have like two scuff marks on the drivers door which wont come off. White is is a hard color to keep clean.
picked up on friday? Yup, it'll fly thru warranty...
not "doubtful" they know he has not done the delivery survey yet...they're not stupid....
You obviously know more than I do on this - It's my understanding that a warranty covers a manufacturer's defect. Most chips fall into the "act of God" category - unless you're implying it was delivered this way OR the paint was defective at this spot. Either way it'll be interesting to see what the dealer response is.
Either the dealer does the minor repair or you can order drcolorchip and do it yourself.
I don't know if I'd trust just anyone to apply touch up paint. Just because it's done at the dealer doesn't mean it will be done with care and attention to detail. Several light applications may be necessary to fill in the chip and the dealer probably isn't going to spend the time.
