Took delivery of my '14 3LT a few weeks ago. Absolutely love the car- the only nagging issue is a ticking noise I hear coming from the dash over highway bumps (even softer ones).
If I press on the dash the majority of it is solid and quiet but there are certain areas (above the heating/ac controls) that creak like a pirate ship when I apply pressure with my finger. I have a feeling this is the culprit.
Anyone else have a creaky ticking dash? I'm half tempted to install the OEM CF dash if that material would be less likely to make this much noise.
I too own a 2014 3LT and have the same issue. I wish I knew what it was myself. If this was a truck or SUV I would care less. But not cool with a brand new sports car. If you find out let me know.
Love the "creak like a pirate ship" line. It was my laugh for the day!
Thanks for replying- have you done this with yours? I may have to consult directions on how to pull the dash apart for this. If I can get this sound to stop I'll be one happy camper.
You wouldn't think something so seemingly minuscule would bother me so much.

Yes I have, I noticed it right after buying the car too, then I realized when I pushed the dash near the top where it meets the aluminum ( especially around the curve) you could hear the exact sound I was hearing while driving over a bump, etc.
The nice thing is you do not have to remove the entire dash, all your removing is the top leather that wraps up from the handle, and loosening the aluminum trim which runs up around the dash. The tiny small felt dots ( ordered a pack for 5 bucks off Amazon in black) will fit in between the two.
Then when you tighten the aluminum piece down you will prevent the rubbing which makes the creaks because there is a buffer between the two.

I hope that helps.
Oh wow- I'll try that tonight! Seriously excited to see if this works. Unfortunately I'm not sure how to pull it all apart. Is it one of the steps that was illustrated in another carbon fiber dash DIY post?

At the parts store look for some body tools that are made of composite
materials that wont hurt the materials you are working on.

I already made the trip to harbor freight and got a set of nylon pry tools.
I think the area ssidekickbp is a little different from where I was zoning in on. Then again maybe he's right. Sometimes it's hard to track the actual "source" of the sound. I actually hope he's right. There's only a few piece to remove to get to it.
Yes, you will start the same as if swapping out the dash. Remove the grab handle trim first then the leather surround to get access to the aluminum trim piece. There are pics in the thread I made about swapping the dash.
Had my C7 for 2 weeks. I noticed a strange tapping noise in the interior the second week while driving especially on rough roads. It was the seat belt latch tapping on the side of the upper passenger seat frame. I moved the seat latch up the belt and no more noise.

You are definitely on to something! Pulled that leather surround back and stffed some cloths behind it (so it wouldn't vibrate while driving....and I heard no ticks!
NOW....to figure out what to put behind it and where exactly. I have a roll of padded felt (the kind you can stick on the bottom of chair legs. Bit it's not very thin, it definitely has thickness to it.

This is what I used. I used the smallest ones that come with them. They are very tiny.
My Z51 dash rattled over the smallest pavement seam. My dealer replaced the right center air conditioning duct and that did the trick. 3 days total at dealer - 2 for part - 1 for dash removal and replace part and dash.
