Default Mud guards

Seems mud guards are costly. Has anyone suffered damage to their car. Not damage to an installed mud guard, but to the actual car.

You consider $105 for the set of 4 on a $60-$70K+ car "costly"?

BTW, they are called Splash Guards.

Just ordered a set from an "offline" vendor. I'll report back on the customer service and quality of the product.

They are well built, fit perfectly but they do not stick out very far. Considering what you get, a contoured product that fits the OEM clips etc, not a bad price. Check the net, you can get a discount. The rear splash guards appear to work, I have no markes behind the rear wheel. But the side rocker panels tuck in and even after the install I was still getting the GM plastic protection marked and scared by road debris hitting mostly near the rear of the doors. Installed carbon fiber side skirts 7 months ago that have solved the problem. They look good as well.

Some of the side skirt manufactures are working on splash guards that fit with the skirts they manufacture. I am waiting for that to happen. In my opinion the factory guards do not fit well with the add on skirts.

Technically mine fit fine together, see photo in above post. They are not the matching CF to my roof and side skirts and I thought of removing them, but they provide some small amount on protection. In the rear the splash guards are not near the side skirts. I am happy with the combined appearance, had I not bought them first and found they were little help for the rocker panels I would have just bought the ones for the rear.

zymurgy- my question was has anybody suffered damage. i don't care what they are called. if they cost $20 and don't work that is too much. it was a simple question. guess a simple answer is too difficult.!!!

Easy answer - they are NOT enough to protect the paint by themselves (as has been mentioned by several posters)

Someone has really thin skin. Yes, your question was has anybody suffered damage. You also made a statement that they were "costly". I replied to your statement. I also tried to educate you to the proper terminology. Instead of learning, you get your panties in a wad. Good Grief!
