Hi Guys/Gals -- I just moved over from the C6 forum as I sold my 12GS and picked up my 2015 C7 A8 Base last week -- Blk/w grey interior (pics up when I can).
Question? Although I just got past my 500 mile (700 on it) the first time I accelerated HARD in D at probably 30mph it picked up 2ond gear but when it shifted it hit right on the rev limiter? I thought at first it backfired then realized that was probably the rev limiter. Got some clear traffic dropped down to about a 10 roll in D -- picked up first gear on the auto down shift - rev limiter hit then shifted, 2ond gear same thing - exhaust popped at rev limiter then shifted at (what seemed like) millisecond later.
Trip to the dealer for a re-flash on the A8? -- or is this Normal Operating?
Anybody else had this on their 15 A8?
I just turned 500 miles. The popping sound is from the computer cutting the fuel as the shift occurs. I beleive it has to do with the rapid shifts of the A8. I am sure someone will chime in with a higher tech explaination. I heard about this happening and just performed it yesterday. Kind of sounds like the precision action of a rifle cocking then firing.
Ok, thanks I take your word for it. Never noticed it on my A6. The A8 does shift much quicker and more solid. I'll keep an eye on it; I hate to take it in for some tech kid to go out and beat the crap out of my car then say "works ok for me" if you know what i mean - thanks again for the info.

Exactly what it sounds like -- thanks for the info -- appreciated
