I sure do not want to ignore a direct question. Do I have to own a C7? No, but I do currently own a 56 , a 64 and a C6 Z06. I've owned every generation of Corvette except for the C4 and the C7 and I have for many, many decades. Tell me, what makes a person that actually owns a C7 more of an authority than one that doesn't? Is it something in the antifreeze used in the C7 that you are drinking? I don't claim to be an authority on anything and I sure won't back down from my opinions just because someone thinks they are an authority because they own a C7.
So when a person who disagrees with me, as is his right, like KenHorse, is able to express his opinions, I can't express my opinions. Is it because I don't belong to that fabulous club called the C7 fanboy club? This forum started long before the C7 and will be around after the C7 is history. My user name is JoesC5 as that was one of the Corvettes I owned back when Troy started this forum, and it was primarily geared to the C5 owner when he started it. I don't see the need to have a new user name, say "Joedoesn'townaC7", just because you have a problem with JoesC5.
I really don't care what you think of me. I can see you getting red faced and steam coming out of your ears every time you see me make a post. Like others, you do not take the time to actually read my posts but jump in because you don't like me, and try to discredit anything I post, just as you just did.
As far as the post I made in this subject matter, I wasn't condescending to anyone. I just stated that the air dam was functional and gave the reasons why and it was not directed to anyone in particular, as I didn't quote anyone in my post. In fact Glen e was the one who made the disrespected posting back at me. Oh, sure, he put in his disclaimer, but he said my post was hogwash. Then I snapped back at him, rightfully so.
While I appreciate your response, I have highlighted three phrases in it that are quite condescending, if not outright insulting. I don't know you, so don't like or dislike you. I do read your posts, which are usually well reasoned - until someone disagrees with you - then watch out. I certainly don't get "red faced" or upset at all over any post you make; life is way too short to get upset at anything on an anonymous internet chat board. While I have tasted antifreeze in the past when working under old cars I've restored, I've never tasted C7 antifreeze and probably never will.
Then you must also know why GM spends money for items not needed(like the air dams). Care to share why GM cheapens other things to save a few pennies and then spends dollars on things not needed(like the air dams). The Corvette is not the only car GM builds with air dams. LOL
You should apply for Kirk's job as it clear you think you know more about aerodynamics than he does.
I dont think the car was designed to run without the dams from An engineering stsdpoint. But for the NORMAL person driving this car, they dont mean a damn thing. This is only my point. You POV is dont take them off because mpg and cooling will suffer and thats crap, maybe at daytona but not on my use on the roads of my town.
Not a vette purist here.....not really concerned what the corvette gods (tadge, Harlan, etc) have to say on this or what they intended.....
