Default Dry Sump

I am far from my first oil change, car only has 500 mi on it. But, this is the first car I have owned with a sump. If I decide to change the oil myself, what should I look for. Is there a video on doing this? Thanks.

Check in the C6 Z06 section. They have been changing the oil in the Z06, that has the dry sump, for the past nine years. The procedure is the same as the design is the same. Only the capacity of the system is different. 9.8 quarts for the C7 version.

You get 2 years of free oil and changes from Chevy. I would suggest at least looking into the option.

2 plugs to drain underneath.
Filter unscrews as normal
9.8 MAX oil back in. Add the oil into the oil reservoir on the passenger side. I would put in 9 quarts and then bring the car up to operating temperature, shut down, wait 10 minutes and check the level. I would then add oil to bring the level up to the middle of the hash marks and stop there.

Piece of cake.

Previously mentioned, you get 2 free oil changes in the first 2 years.

I made a picture PDF of my Z51 oil change that may be good to view. 4 pages include jacking the car and more pages of info that may not be of interest. The pics should be of some help:

Make sure no one puts too much oil in your car, the most that should be in it is 9 I wasn't even going to put 9 in my car but I decided that I wanted it in the safe range on the stick.

When I got my car the oil was past the top mark, someone at the dealer put too much oil in it before delivery.

Read the oil checking section of your manual check it right.

Real easy doing it as suggested above. Fill to 9 quarts and check. You should be just about right (midway on dipstick).
