We have similar tastes (aside from the train! I don't envy you).

Mazda 6. Need something with back seats since I have an infant. I either drop her off before work and come home to get the Vette or try to con the wife into baby duty on that day. Fortunately, since she teaches, I can drive the Vette during the summer.

I alternate my C-5 and my C-7 Z-51 to the golf club each day.But if it's cold or looks like rain in Texas then it's the C-5.R

Our winter or DD cars are a 2011 Honda CR-V AWD and a 2012 Cadillac CTS-4 touring Edition. The good weather cars are the 2008 C6 4LT Z51 JSB convertible and the soon to be built 2015 DSOM Stingray 3LT Z51 Coupe.

I only have the C7. I used to have a CTS and an old Jeep Wrangler but had to consolidate to buy the Vette. I'm in Los Angeles so weather isn't an issue here ever.

DD is the C7.

We take my wife's SUV from time to time, and all 10 times a year it rains in AZ.

My C7 is the daily driver most of the time, if the weather is good. Then there's the 69 Nova that goes out a couple times a week, also if the weather is good.

My Vette is my DD.

I drive it to get groceries, pick up stuff from the cleaners, do a hardware store run, paint and stuff from the art supply store, and whatever else needs to be done (if it fits, it gets done in the Vette).

Wine tasting (gravel roads are a norm), cross country trips, nights out on the town, and overnight trips, too, are just the fun on top of the everyday.

The C7, like all 4 of my Vettes, is my only car. Granted I live in Eastern SC so weather is a none-issue. However when it rains I mostly drive my wife’s SUV! She prefers that when we go out or on a trip we use the SUV as well.
I like the fact that I can transport a lot of groceries and “stuff” in the back. When we built our current house I recall taking several pieces of 8 foot 2x4 lumber with a blanket over the rear of my '93 and the hatch held down with a bungee cord!
This is a pic I took at Laguna Seca in August of 2013 of one of the traveling show C7’s as they were leaving!

Still plenty of room in there. I DD the C7 also, picked up a 10' trim strip yesterday and it fit hatch closed with inches to spare.
