Yesterday I parked my C7 coupe in the sun several hours for the first time. I was surprised at how hot it got.
Several years ago one of the Japanese car makers had an option for a solar powered fan that would exhaust hot air when the interior temperature got high and the car was parked. Sounds like a great future option for the C7.
With the advent of thin flexible solar panels it should be possible to incorporate them into a section of the hatch window which should make them almost invisible.
A good tint like 3M Chrystaline and a sun shade does a pretty good job. No matter what you do, it’s unlikely that things are going to be cool if it’s really hot outside. Don

This or ceramic tint will help tremendously. It's not going to keep things perfectly cool, but you'll see an improvement
Transparent roof with an after market sun blocker installed. The sun blocker is well insulated and the underside does not feel hot.
I've seen 3 sun blockers offered. Which one did you get. Ihave the same problem with mine, and plan on getting a sun shade for next summer. I have seen 1 piece, 2 pieces, and one that attachs by static cling.

It's the "DSV Custom Transparent Roof Shade". Looks and fits great. Held on with suction cups and not visible from the outside. Thick enough to provide heat insulation and possibly soak up a little sound (I didn't notice any significant noise reduction). Good match to the existing black headliner.
Easiest way to install is with roof off. Takes a couple of minutes to align it properly. Then just press it into place. Easy to remove with top on. Great product.
California Pop Top--covers the entire top of the car from the base of the windshield all the way to the rear spoiler. Works terrific--keeps the interior 40-50 degrees cooler. I have one and it works!!

My previous C5 convert had black interior leather & black top, so it got really hot then.
Lesson learned, now my C7 vert has tan interior, tan top.
I also tinted my windows, use a windshield reflector ($8 at walmart) whenever I park & vert top down upon starting car...
& if really hot, max cool air seat

I had the clear top on my C6 with an aftermarket black plastic film. Worked ok.
I decided to make my own on the C7, since none was available when I got the car.
The material is sheet plastic that looks like carbon fiber with an adhesive back. Available on ebay for about $20. Comes in rolls and is easily cut to fit with a little trial and error. The roll is enough to make 2-3 top covers. The black strip is from home depot--window weatherstripping with adhesive back.
You need this because the plastic sheet will contract a little after installation, leaving a 1/8-1/4" gap.
I like the look and it is easily removable if need be. It is holding up well. Been on since January.
