Default Acrylic roof - Any regrets

I am looking at finally pulling the trigger and nearly every car I like has an acrylic roof as the only roof. Does anyone who has an acrylic roof in their C7 have any regrets?

Any response is welcome.

I had the transparent top in my C5 (actually had both tops). Rarely used the transparent top because it is just too hot in Texas. If the car sat outside (it was my DD), the interior would be incredibly hot and it would take far too long for the A/C to overcome the existing heat plus the heat still streaming in through the top.

Sure, you can get a roof shade for it, but that kinda defeats the whole purpose.

I'll never own another transparent top as long as I live in a southern state.

I live in Florida and found that the transparent roof made the interior too hot during summer. Solved with a removable roof shade.

Based on your icon, it may not be a problem where you live.

Default Transparent Roof Option

I have the transparent roof and I am in Austin, Texas, and I find it to be perfect for my needs.

If the sun is out it will get hot inside (if you park outside) but the air cond quickly cools the interior. Any car will be hot inside if you park out in the sun.

I especially like the open feeling of the transparent roof from inside the car. It is nice to see the sky and not have the wind blowing. With the windows down and the top on its a nice balance.

All of our several C5's and C6's (except for the two Z06's) have had transparent tops and while it does get mighty hot here in Ft Worth we still loved them. The view IMO outweighs the time it takes the a/c to cool it down. Our new C7 (on order) will only have the transparent top.

Sorry about the ico. That is the homeland. Currently residing in Houston, TX. The heat is the very thing that concerns me.

I'm in FL and have 2 tops. Im using the transparent for fall winter and body color for the hot times. It works out great. If I was only buying one top, I would buy the body color. Just too hot in the summer.

No offence to others but I would never want one. And not just because of the heat.

I'm in the Cincinnati area, and I absolutely love mine. Can see though how it might be a problem down south.

I love my transparent roof. It really opens up the interior of the car. i found the CF roofs mildly claustrophobic

Exactly. Had transparent roofs since 1992. I live in the Northeast, if I lived in the south, I may feel differently.

I ordered my car with a white top, but with constraint issues I changed to the transparent top. I am very happy with it.

I ordered the transparent top with my new Z51. Hasn't arrived yet, but I live in the Seattle area, so I might worry about heat only during a couple months of the year. Other people who have it tell me they love the spacious feeling it gives them.

Just bought my C7 off the showroom floor and it has the acrylic top. I live in phoenix az so I am sure I will have a better idea of whether its liveable here next summer. As of now though I like it because it affords a bit more head room than the CF tops.

Not to nitpick, but the C7 doesn't have a transparent top made of acrylic. The transparent top is made of polycarbonate .

my 'Vette has both the painted CF top and transparent top...the transparent top does allow the interior of my Vette to get hot (I live in Texas too) so in the summer, the painted top was a better choice. It is now Fall so the transparent top is back on my car. If you can only get the car with the transparent top then go for it but I would buy the roof sun shade...
