So, my car is broken in now so I've been playing around a little with 0-60 times. Best I got was 3.9 seconds, I remember seeing a post here previously of ppl with their times listed. I didn't know how Launch Control worked so I pulled up some youtube videos of 0-60 times. All of the videos I watched were in the 4.6-4.8 second range. Dunno why there is such a gap between what 'pros' are doing and what random ppl here were doing in those times. My question is though, using a manual what is the best way to get the best time? What RPM's do you release at, do you use launch control? I've always heard cold helps cars run faster, but also seen cold roads won't let you grip, any good temp to try this at?
The guy that posted the 3.5 zero to 60 run in his m7 launched at 2700 rpm's. Also the temp was 70 and he was running Conti all seasons. Maybe the Conti's were the ticket to ride. And most of his times were 3.9-4.1 or so. He was surprised at his success. Many pages of info on launch control on the forum, but I don't have a clue on its operation, sorry.
They demonstrated launch control at the Fellows school in autos, manuals, and ZR1. With the manual the RPM's stabilized at 5000 when they sidestepped the clutch. Don't know the 0-60 time but pretty impressive show.
