Default PDR help

Anybody have any suggestions for the PDR not working?

I bought a 32GB Class 10 SD card for the PDR and inserted it into the slot. When I select the PDR screen it says "Insert SD Card" - I thought maybe I put it in wrong, but when I took it out it's "keyed" so it only goes in one way. I took card out and re-inserted -- nothing still says "Insert SD Card"

Next I shut off the car with the card out and restarted the car thinking maybe a boot problem. Same thing on screen "Insert SD Card" record etc. is grayed out and not cannot be selected.

Maybe bad card? - any known glitches for this system?

Operation seems pretty straight forward per the owner manual?

Are you inserting the SD card in the reader in the glove box? That is the reader intended for the PDR. If you insert it in the reader in the center console, the PDR won't find it.

I am having the same problem, and I formatted my card on my Mac! Ordered new card, hope that will work! If not a trip to the dealer!

they are preformatted, you should not have to do that, but as
you discovered it was simply in the wrong slot. also it will only
recognize SDHC cards up to 32GB, not the larger SDXC cards.
I need to do a little more experimentation but it seems you cant
rename the pair of files on the card, if you do it doesn't recognize
them as being from the PDR.

are you guys sure about using FAT32? That'll limit your file size to 2GB. I haven't gotten around to slapping in an SD card just yet.

I didn't have to format mine; it worked out of the package as well. But others that seemed to have problems - claimed formating to FAT 32 cured the problem.

Good luck !

try a new, factory sealed, Class 10 SDHC card first that you didn't
try to format. the SDA 2.0 spec includes preformatting with a FAT32 filesystem,
which is what the PDR is expecting. if you pooched the formatting
most SD card manufactures have a downloadable program that can restore
the correct format if your PC isn't capable of doing it natively.

I guess here's another one not reading the manual -- I was plugging into the center console -- not the glove box -- LOL and I'm a technical writer for aircraft, continually telling the mechanics on the line -- JUST READ the manual IT"S in there LOL -- hope you guys don't rat me out

I'll try the glove box when I get home from work -- and I will format as FAT32 if necessary - and the manual does say a formatted FAT32 SD card. -- thanks again for all the help - you can always find what your doing wrong on here - a wealth of information.

FAT32 supports up to 4GB individual files. Im not sure what the PDR
does if a recording goes beyond that, maybe it just starts another
file.

all new cards are shipped preformatted, if you try to format it
yourself you may introduce a compatibility problem.

Thanks, I'll plug it in when I get home (into the correct slot LOL) and I'm sure it will probably work as you have said

The SDXC cards (larger than 32gb) will not work only because they are formatted in a newer format - not FAT32. You can use them if you reformat them in FAT32. Simple as that.

agreed, I was just making the point that reformatting is not without risk.
typically I try to avoid Wikipedia links due to frequently inaccurate info, but
this one has a few valid points.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_...f_reformatting
so my suggestion would be that people always try a non-reformatted card
before heading to the dealer.
