2014 C7 re-categorized by insurance industry
Picked up my c7 in December of 2014.
Car insurance just renewed... Bill increased by approx. $800\yr
I changed nothing.
Called geico, they told me the insurance industry re-categorized the c7 to be a sports model....or something to that effect...and that is the only reason it increased.
Similar experiences?

going from a C6 to the C7 my 6 month increase is about $125 or $250 per year. This is with State Farm, i have another vehicle with them and my house as well.

That seems like a pretty steep increase - although I don't have Geico for my C7 - they insure my other 3 cars; when I looked to add it to my policy in March, it was only $1,080/yr, about $100 more than my 2015 Jeep GC. I live less than 10 miles east of you, so geographical rates should be similar.

1000 deductible....
Time to shop around and compare.
But then again, he did explain that the re-categorization of the C7 was recent and effected the entire car insurance industry, not just geico.

$574 per YEAR with the Hartford (aarp). shop around, you'll find a better rate someplace. some guys like the national corvette museum ins. what your insurance guy is telling you may or may not be true, I would verify it to be sure.

The NCM quote for my new 2015 for 3,000 miles per year was $589. It was so much lower that it concerned me as to weather it was for real in terms of coverage. The most expensive quote that I got was less than $1,000 per year.

While not a C7, my 2012 GS is $400 per year cheaper to insure than my 2012 Honda Civic, with each having the same maximum available coverage. Total insurance for these two cars plus a 2104 BMW 335i is $1,800 per year. We are with Allstate.

Hey anything's possible, but I'd definitely get some new quotes.

Unmodified C8 of the Year 2021 Finalist
2018 C7 of Year Finalist
State Farm $100 deduct comp, $500 deduct collision, 100k/300k liability/uninsured. 6 mos renewals on '14 C7, Philly, PA area. Renewed 3/14 then again 9/14.
So mine only increased on 9/14 for 6mos - $12.74 or $25.48 annually.
If that story from Gieco is followed in the insurance industry, maybe they'll get me next Spring.

From what I've read on this forum, NCM is not "real" insurance, it's more for lightly driven collector/antique type cars.

Geico either saw something they liked, or didn't like to raise your rate by "$800\yr." The C7 is a very pricey, very high-performance car to let it ride @ low-rates for very long.
