Default my #1 reason for base- wet sump for short trips

I hope to get an A8 C7 next year. I plan on base because most of my fun car trips are no more than 5 miles. Dry sump and it would never warm up so I can drive it hard.

Well, I didn't do as well as most of you after graduating college. I bought what I could afford and my 1LT C7, NPP, M7 definitely doesn't suck. I'm happy!

Well, thanks for this thread anyway......it was very helpful for me. I was about to buy a Z51 but after reading here plus a bunch more research, I decided it wasn't worth it to me. I don't track, more cruise than hard driving, and want the smoothest ride so my wife don't complain at me. So yesterday I ordered the following..... 2015 3LT Coupe.....Shark Gray with Jet Black interior ZF1 Appearance package 8 speed auto NPP exhaust Std silver painted wheels. Carbon Fiber dash Carbon flash emblems Transparent roof Saved me $3500 which I will partially spend on ACS Zero1 skirts, curb alert, and possibly some skin like Expel or something. I think I'm gonna be pretty please except for the 2-3 month wait. Thanks for all the constructive comments......they were appreciated.

Good choices! I'm sure its been said already in the thread, but the real purpose of wanting a Z51 is mainly for track function. Which means your buying it for the dry sump oil system, transmission cooling system, better suspension system and bigger braking system. those items are worth the extra cost. Anything else is just for looks (i.e. 19/20 wheels, spoiler, etc) which can be purchased for much less elsewhere or from vendors here cheaper. I bought non-Z51 1LT vert and when the aftermarket stuff really starts coming out it will look better and cost less then OEM parts.

Or would you expect a Z51 owner to admit to Z06 envy?

Believe it or not most Corvette buyers order the car most suited to their needs. The only time any "envy" would be involved is if a buyer really wanted Z51 but couldn't afford it. That is seldom the case.

Only "regret" I have with having a base C7 is that it will be costly if/when I want to upgrade the brakes, wheels and tires to Z51 specs or better. And since that is mostly cosmetic (since my car is a DD) it will probably be done later than sooner. All the other Z51 stuff I couldn't care less about since I will probably never track the car it is just needless complexity IMO, for the use I give the car.

It's too bad that the C7's Z51 couldn't have remained just a suspension brake and tire upgrade like it used to be, avoiding all the complexity. And then offer a "Track Package" with dry sump and all the coolers coolers and e-diff for the hard core guys who want it.

As said before, money and delivery time were not an issue with me. Not going to track the car, so got a base loaded with 3LT (sueded), NPP, etc. With all due respect, it's disconcerting that so many Z51 guys laude what they consider to be their "superiority" over the base guys. Maybe that attitude will come back to haunt them when they're up against the Z06 guys. It seems that so many of them can't understand that Z51 is merely another package offered on the C7. Two models: C7 and Z06. Let's put egos aside and enjoy what are ALL awesome cars!

Got exactly what I wanted. A 2015 Arctic White Vert 2lt, manual 7 speed, red interior.
First Vert for me and no regrets.

I couldn't be happier with my so-called "base" Stingray. The performance is the same engine as the Z51. I won't track the car. Therefore no need for the Z51 extra bucks spent. After competitive racing for many years and many open track days, I 've seen so many "stock" sport cars get beaten to death at open track days on road courses. Many of the Z51 owners who will track their cars think they are another Mario Andretti, and just beat up the cars. Brakes, pads, rotors, tires.

Some owners might think they have something special with the Z51, but it is just a package, and they can't drive any faster than the "base" model. Many of the upgrades from a non-Z51 to the Z51 won't make a rats *** difference if they ever to go sell or trade it.

For what I paid, I am thrilled...

MSRP: $64,010
Paid $56,088

Added a few bucks for some very basic modifications....

2015 Corvette C7 Stingray
1LT
Torch Red
Gray Interior
ZF1 Appearance Pkg
A8 Auto Trans
Performance Exhaust
Z51 Chrome Wheels
Red Calipers
Indoor Car cover
CTEK 3300 smartcharger
GTX Z06 Side Skirts
OEM GM Front Splitter
20% Window Tint
Lloyds Mats w/ Corvette Logo
Stingray Logo rear cargo Mat
Pinnacle Black Diamond Paint Coating
Pinnacle Black Label Synergy Wax
FilterMag SS300
Matching Body color fuel rail covers
Matching Body color manifold covers

Not at all. Never wanted Z51 the ride is to lumpy. Its fine if you like track events but for a daily driver to the Country Club and road tours the non Z51 is what you want. How do you regret a Z51 if you never had it in the first place? Now if your the type that needs to walk around and mention in every other sentence that you have a Z51 and paste Z51 stickers and badges everywhere so everyone knows that you spent the $ by all means order the Z51 pkg. Honestly you will never have the need for it unless you want a harsh ride.

a slight regret, but I have to remind myself that I would see 0 benefit from getting it. even with MRSC. What am I going to do with it? in what shape or form will it make the car more enjoyable? Then I realize there is no point of regretting.

it's like paying extra for something you'll never use. Sounds like a waste of money. Is it worth spending all that extra money so my car feels 'tighter' when I change lanes on the highway when I want to drive spirited? lol If I had the extra cash, I would have done it, but with the MRSC... Same thing with the Z06... None of them will make the car more enjoyable though.

All the Z51 owners must be out golfing... I've never seen them this quiet.

Love my DD, M7 NRB coupe, no Z51 package... (Am I the only one that hates that spoiler?)

No regrets at all. I will never track my car so saw no need for the Z51 package. I have the M7 base 2LT with the Z51 spoiler.
