In looking at the 2015 C7's I noticed that virtually all come with the summer tire. The dealer explained that these tires are not to be driven on when the temperature drops below 40 degrees. Are there other tires you folks are putting on so we can enjoy these cars in the cold weather 9as long as the roads are free of sand and salt)?
just go with non-run flats. Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Bridgestone Pole Position S04s. I've used both tires on my C6. Awesome tires for performance and longevity. They are summer tires as well.
I find the stock tires on the Z51 are horrible. Car has probably similar power to my C6 before I supercharged it and I could dead hook with those other two tires I mentioned above. Now...totally different story
To answer your initial question, back when I used to live up north on my turbo 4 banger I used Kumho Ecsta (spelling?). They were cheap all seasons that seemed to get the job done.
The PSS non run flats do not have more grip nor do they provide any additional cold temperature performance. About the same for the S04's though in overall performance they are similar but still not quite up to the PSS level of ultimate grip. Comparing what you had on you 5 year old C6 vs the PSS tires specifically developed for the C7 is somewhat silly......
FYI, ALL C7's come with summer tires, not virtually all. Michelin Pilot A/S3's seem to be the go to all season tire. Everyone who has made the change, knowing it will reduce the overall performance of the car are happy with the result. Note that in the Z51 sizes these are not run flats so you will need to plan accordingly.

You are thinking wisely...this subject has been beat to death lately.... dozens of threads....do some searching and you will learn a lot....not all situations are the same.
If you are looking at Z51 sizes, there are winter and all season tires available. Look on tire rack.com and just enter the size Front 245/35-19 Rear 285/30-20.
How often does one get a tire failure on the road?
Our cars have GM tire monitoring which tells you the actual pressure and also warns you when a tire is low. Only benefit to a run-flat is that you can limp to your local Michelin dealer and wait several days for a replacement run-flat that will cost around $100. more than the same size non-run-flat.
I love Pilot Super Sports, but will go with non run-flat in summer on the Vette the next time I buy new tires for it.
If I choose to drive my Vette in cold/freezing temps, I'll buy Pilot PS/3's. One could find true winter tires, but unless it's a Daily Driver they aren't necessary.
On a related subject - I read the online 2015 manual, where it is recommended the tires be rotated (axle to axle) every 7500 miles. Crazy me for thinking they were unidirectional!
