I stopped by my Chevrolet dealer in small town America this weekend to look at their in stock '15 C7's to help decide on colors. With understanding I would not place order that day, we built my desired C7 coupe. When completed, unit has MSRP mid to high $70's depending on options yet undecided. After mulling order over weekend I have another option to consider. If new Z06 has MSRP beginning $80ish, would one consider a Z with fewer options?
I thought about it, but at the price I got my Z51 loaded 3LT, it would cost me at least $18k to get a base Z06 right now. Now if/when they offer employee pricing, I will take a serious look.

That'd be awesome if they'd do GSU or GMS pricing on the Z but it's not going to happen. Even the guy I bought my car from at the dealership couldn't get any price break on it.

Yup......$6k discount on 3LT Z51 vrs. lightly optioned non discounted Z estimated $20k difference. You would have thought I would have learned my lesson after trading two C6 coupes each with <1000 miles before getting what I really wanted........a Z06! Shark Gray or Red?
My experience bears on this directly. In September I bought a 2015 Stingray Z51 (2LT, manual, Nav/PDR, black wheels, etc.) for about $63K on a $69K sticker. My on-order Z06 (if it were similarly equipped) would be about $85K and I'm paying list. So roughly a $22,000 differential.
However, I opted for some extras on the Z06 and will end up paying more like $95,000, or about a $32,000 differential, when it arrives in December.

I was in the same boat. I spec'd out a Z51, 3LT with many options and decided a 3LZ Z06 (which includes mag ride suspension) made more sense.
Its being built this week or next.
The Z06 comes standard with NPP,Mag Ride,ELSD Diff. MSRP 78,995 includes destination. Add 2LZ for $4,160, which makes pretty well loaded. If you pay MSRP it will cost $83,155. thats a great deal.
I ordered my Z06, 3LZ,A8 and Blk wheels came to 89,950 less 3k GM points=86,950

I just checked insurance rates for my on order C7 and it looks like I will have to pay over $1,600 a year to insure the beast since I got a ticket about a year ago! Damn it!

If prices were close, I would go for the Z06. But chances of getting any discount on the Z06 will be slim, at least for quite a while. The regular C7, with the discounts being offered, looks pretty good IMO.
After building my C7 on GM build your own, I was close to 80, and I knew a Z at msrp would not be possible, so I looked into a Callaway.
After crunching the numbers, in order to keep the price in the same ball park I would have to eliminate too may of the up grade features that I really wanted.
So it's a T.R. 3LT Z51 Sel Mag. Dual Carbon Flash Stripes 7 Spd. for me
Had to drop the Chrome wheels and dual top option to get past the constraints.
My C7 now sits on a rail car in Bellevue Ohio. Been there three days now. No ETA

While I believe it will take a little while for the A8 Z06 to be discounted(6-8 months), I wouldn't be surprised to see M7 Z06's being discounted shortly. I see too many dealers trying to sell incoming M7's due to lack of customers wanting the M7, and the Z06 is just now going into production.
It appears, from posted numbers, that the Z06 is around 40% of the C7's daily production. At that rate, it won't take long to have over production.
Personally, I would rather have a stripped $79,000 Z06 instead of a highly optioned $72,000 base C7. I think I could find that additional $7,000 somewhere.
