My backup camera stays on for 4-6 seconds AFTER I place the gear selector in "D" and begin to move forward. It was not that way until just recently (had the Vette since mid-July - now have 2400 miles). I recall reading posts on this.
My Question: Is/has there been a warranty repair that covers this and if so what is it?
I did 4 or 5 searches using a variety of search terms to no avail. So please don't respond with a "search is your friend" response. Its not helpful.
Pg 9-51 in the owners manual. My Cruze does the same thing. Believe the delay is normal operation.
Have a standard shift. It has a delay from time to time. Assume switching the display is a lower priority to some other function occurring with that processor, but that is only speculation.
Thanks to all. Even though I read the manual when I took delivery, I didn't recall the "up to 10 seconds" delay. Just recalled some posts on the slow response time. Buts it's right there on the book.
I believe once you get to a certain forward speed the backup camera screen goes away. ...or it goes away after a set amount of time, whichever comes first. So, the faster you get up to speed the quicker the backup camera disappears. Not 100% sure though.
I haveCostal Lockpick in my Ford EB Flex that allows me to leave it on in rear mode all the time if I want. Great to watch cars behind in heavy traffic.
However, my biggest peave with the Ford system is that when shifting into "R" the SONY logo comes up and I have to wait for 4-5 sec... or just run into whatever is behind me...(LOL) This delay when going into "D" won't bother me at all when I get my new 2015 Vette.
