Default Windshield Wiper Alignment Guide

There are alignment "spots" on the windshield for you to align your windshield wiper arms by if you ever need to remove the arms for some reason. The "spots" are actually cut outs in the black ceramic edging on the lower windshield. The first photo shows the one for the driver's side and the second photo shows the one for the passenger's side.

I don't get it. What purpose do the dots serve?

When the wiper arms are removed for some reason (replacing with painted wiper arms, removing to access something below the windshield cowl, etc.), they are there to show you where to line the arms up to when re-installing the wiper arms.

Most recent windshields on other cars I've seen have a similar mark only it is a short black line in the glass down in the same area.

Yes, the C6 has the short black line, I believe.
