There is plenty of anecdotal evidence that it takes time into consideration when displaying oil life. It should be changed once a year, so it would make sense to read 0% no matter how few miles you have driven it.

I didn't say this; the oil life monitor is easy to reset, if you want to continue operation without changing the oil (and no warning) just reset the system. Happy motoring!

Let's see...900 miles at an average of 50mph equals 18 hours into a depreciation of approximately $8000 plus ownership costs (gas, interest, taxes, insurance) of $3000 gives you a operating cost of about $610 per hour.

I think it would be foolish to reset it and keep driving the car when you have 4 free oil changes available to you from Chevy. It has been a year, change it.

Because you're under warranty, the one year time period is a good idea however I can virtually guarantee you that if you have an oil analysis done on that 900 mile oil it will show that it's nowhere close to the end of it's life. On a car that isn't driven that often, you can easily go 2 or even 3 years or more safely, as long as when you do drive the car you get the oil fully warmed up, and aren't using it for very short trips.
