I have a 2014 Z51 and today i noticed a crack on the crease of the driver door, it seems like it just appeared overnight, the car is in a garage could the changing temperature have affected the paint? paint defect? or must it have been from contact?
What garage? Your own, private garage? Or, a public garage? It can happen by itself, but that doesn't look like it did---it looks like an impact of some kind. I had a panel many years ago (a small, painted panel about 2'x2') that did crack by itself but it was on a bright sunny summer day in August.
The driver's door on my 2014 was cracked when I took delivery. My local dealer immediately took responsibility and had their contract body shop repair the area under warranty. Can't tell the crack was ever there. How long have you had the car?

Hate to say it but it looks like you opened the door into something, not just a simple crack that happened all by itself.
IMHO.....
It seems like it but I just dont see how, it is a noticeable crack and the car has been under cover and hasnt left the garage from when i saw it with no crack
Maybe it's the angle of the light but even below the big issue looks like 5 to 6 small scratches. When you blow the picture up. Looks like something or someone caused that and never told you. Just my opinion but good luck with getting it fixed.

I thought I saw those, too, but wasn't sure. If it's been under cover in your own garage since the last time you saw it without these scratches and crack, I don't know what to say. It certainly does look like "impact" to me. But the big crack looks to me as if the door had to be open to hit it on the edge. Being closed and flush with the body of the car, I don't see how that crack could have happened. I'm no "forensic bodywork" person, so I am guessing.

On the edge below it it's either a reflection or a scratch that is also going vertical.
Can't see that happening just by sitting. Is there paint chips on the floor?

It looks like the door impacted on something IMO..perhaps a metal covering for furnace?? I would say someone , not OP, but someone in his household opened the door too wide and hit the door causing the scratches and crack.
I had a similar looking crack at the exact spot after a track day. Concluded that it must have been a rock thrown forward by the rear tire during a corner. Did you drive recently on loose gravel by any chance?
