I took the C7 for it's first little road trip. Well I was "having fun" with the car and putting it through it's paces. After a couple runs I noticed on the sport mode gauges it had a permanent yellow hue around the entire cluster. Going to track mode it also kept the first of the shift light bulbs yellow and lit.

What's this supposed to be telling me?
Yellow is the coolest color? LOL. Id be interested to know too.
should not remain yellow, this halo should be telling you thaty the car is not warmed up enough yet for high roms , as such should go away when the car is sufficiently warm,,,you might have an issue with your DIC
The ring around the tachometer, in Sport mode only I think, is normally a warning that you're approaching max revs for the temperature. You get a yellow ring when in the yellow rpm range not fully warmed up and a red ring when in the red zone. Shouldn't stay on like that. The original post confused me because I thought you meant a yellow ring around the whole cluster rather than the halo, ring around the Sport mode tachometer.
Is the yellow band present when you re engage traction control? I bet it's a reminder that you have it selected off.
On the surface, that seems odd, because it would disable the warning for approaching redline. I don't track mine, so bear with my train of thought: don't most people disable the nannies on the track?
To the OP: have you cycled the car off and on? Does it still do this?

the ring is telling you the car is not wamed up to push rpm's . sounds like your trans . was not warm enough.
i have this ring pop up now and then with the oil and water about 180-190.....but i have noticed the trans. is still cold .
just telling you car is cold dont push rpms

well this was on a 250 mile road trip and about 140 miles into it. If the car isn't warmed up by then I don't know what to tell you
Did you turn the TC off or did the car? If the car did the shift light staying on at low rpm could be some kind of warning.
If it only did it one time chalk it up to rebooting the giant GM-made computer that is your car Mine has done several weird things over the last nine months that a restart or overnight key-off cycle fixed on its own.
Same thing I was thinking . Shouldn't be doing that in the low RPM range. It's supposed to be warning you it's probably time to shift.
