Default A8 question

I’ve only owned my 2015 A8 for 2 months with 2100 miles. Sometimes (ha ha) I get stuck in slow moving city traffic. When I start moving in this creeping traffic the Trans will give a hard shift that gives you feel that you just lurched forward but actually you don’t. First time it happened I thought the car behind me hit my rear bumper. I’ve tried to watch the speedo to catch what speed this happens but I can only narrow it down to less than 20 mph. Any thoughts?

Take it to the dealership with a world class technician to properly diagnose.

HAD2HAV2,

I'm sorry to hear about your hard shift concerns. I understand how displeasing this would be and realize you're seeking opinions about it. However, if you'd like to consider getting an official GM diagnosis, please message me privately as I can reach out to the dealer's Customer Experience Managers (CEM) for additional assistance. If you'd like to contact us privately, we'd be happy to discuss this with you further.

If in Tour mode this jolt sounds abnormal. If in Sport or Track mode maybe it might be normal?

My A8 is about same mileage etc. I drive in some rush hour traffic and noticed the same thing, hard lurch when crawling along with traffic under about 10/20 Mph. I also noticed I was in Sport mode (which I drive in 99% of the time). Next session of heavy traffic I switched to Tour mode -- no more problems - driven several sessions of bumper to bumper since in Tour mode and it's been fine.

I also have the A8 and found in Sport mode when slowing down, the shifts are abrupt. More aggressive shall we say.
