Blade Silver paint quality
There has been a lot of discussion about OP in paint but I have noticed that my BS looks blotchy in the direct sunlight here in AZ. It's like the metallic is not applied evenly. It's even more apparent with my sunglasses on. My friend has a 2005 Machine Silver car and I can see the same sort of thing in it but it doesn't seem as obvious. Is it just me, the AZ sun or is this a characteristic of BS paint jobs? (no pun intended)

My 2007 machine silver C6 didn't have any blotchiness to it at all but I can see some blotchiness on my 2015 blade silver in certain lighting. Doesn't bother me that much at all but you would think this would not be an issue at this point in the second year of C7 production and the fact they have been applying blade silver since the 2009 model year. I think their paint engineers need to either get their butts in gear or go find a new job.

This can be a problem for any silver. While you gain in hiding scratches and daily wear with the color you do run a significant risk of a "blotchy" paint job. It isn't just the Corvette and Blade Silver.

My BS was built 10/27 and in my garage only 5 days now. After reading your message I went into my garage, put on all the lights (regular bulbs) and spotted none of what you describe. Also, orange peel is quite minimal.
I'm not boasting, just think consistency should be a QC criterion.

I've seen "blotchy" paint jobs on a variety of silver vehicles, new and older. It depends on the severity, but I've also heard of cases where the paint problems were corrected under warranty.

Mine looks awesome.
Except when the sun hits it just the right way and you look at the right angle, its as blotchy as you can get.
I have owned many silver/light gray metallic cars and trucks and thats just part of the deal. Worse I ever seen was a pearl white escalade I had that looked like it was painted with a spray can in the right light.

My silver C6 looks patchy in the sunlight. Depending on the angle of view it tends to fade here, light up there, and seems inconsistent. I accept it as part of the pearlescent affect of the paint itself.

I guess I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who notices this but still thinking it isn't something I should accept on a $70K+ car. Think I'll bring it up with the dealer when I take it in for it's 500 mile oil change.
