I was lucky enough to come across someone who had bought a set of HRE P40SC for a new C7 but decided to keep their OEM wheels. I got an incredible deal and just couldn't resist.
These are the OEM size wheels and meant for the OEM Michelins which is exactly what I was looking for. The original purchaser worked with HRE to get an aggressive fit and it looks really good. Probably going to lower it a bit but not totally decided. Did the slammed Z06 and got tired of always worrying about dragging!!!
Here are the pics but a cloudy day doesn't do these wheels justice!
Beautiful wheels, rpo!!! No doubt the HRE name and quality are evident. There is a forged wheel that is somewhat similar from Finspeed Wheels, a small Missouri company, that I've seen. I think they call it the 14 or something like that. They do seem to make a quality forged wheel, too, for anyone who's interested.
Yes, looks great! Digressing as I vacillate on wheels and color choice to complete my C7 coupe order. In decades past one of the first things we did with our performance car purchase was change OEM wheels. The late 90's through recent times, manufacturers finally equipped offerings with a wheel that enhanced appearance and performance. Excepting an awakened trend of unmolested collector cars and numbers matching preservations, recent enthusiast cars just did not look right with an after market wheel. In my humble opinion, the entire line of C6 Verts demonstrated how all the C6 models including Z06 and ZR1, looked best with original wheels. I had 3 C6's and never considered changing wheels. While many may disagree, I think GM has missed the mark with C7 wheel options whether black, brushed, or chrome. After budgeting for which most will only surpass in their home purchase, I have compassion for those whom do not have additional resources to purchase a set of quality wheels in the $3k to $6k range. Am I being too hasty in my opinion, and C7 wheels will warm up to me? Will the evolutionary C7 design become marginalized with a plethora of questionable owner choices in replacing OEM wheels? As always, thoughts and opinions welcome from both sides of the aisle, and from the peanut gallery..........
