Default Main Seal on AC Compressor Failed.

Now this isn't a gripe post just informative. I own a 2015 Z51 with the A8 with only 2375 miles on her. I had just gotten back from having my first oil change (yeah I know, the 500 mile bulletin came after I already hit 2000 miles) when my wife asked if I could turn the AC on in the car as it was warm out and she was uncomfortable. Needless to say, the AC just blew warm air into the cabin. I called OnStar to see if there were any issues with my car as far as trouble codes and they couldnt find anything wrong.

So instead of a day trip to Sedona, I took the car to my dealer to figure out what was wrong. I thought that maybe the oil change might have hit something that could have affected the AC but that was ruled out due to the fact that they could see refrigerant dye on the AC compressor, which led them to check the line pressure and it was basically empty. Further investigation showed that the AC compressor main seal had failed and required replacement. This process took until late the next day and thankfully it's under warranty. My AC is now fixed and blowing cold air again, so it wasn't too much hassle beyond a cancelled trip to Sedona and the miserable piece of crap that the Chevy Malibu that they gave as a rental was.

I think that pissed me off more than my car having a failed part. I understand that the Malibu is plenty of car for most people as a rental, but for the love of god, I brought in a Corvette the least they could do is offer something like the new Impala as a rental as I know a Corvette rental is asking too much I gotta give Thorobred Chevrolet in Phoenix a thumbs up as far as finding the issue fast and getting it fixed promptly. That and the fact that my car was returned just as clean as I left it which is always a plus.

Good question, I will check the invoice they gave me when I get off work in a few hours, I haven't had much time to enjoy the car since I got it back and picked it up after hours since the dealer's shop closed before the showroom did.

You should have gotten a better rental. I got a brand new Silverado with 91 miles the first time and a Volt the second time which was also brand new. Cool little cars!
