After reading some threads by fellow forum members Glen e and FYREANT and also reviewing the prices from vendors, I recently decided to paint my own top fuel rail covers and plenum to add some color under the hood.
Right after I installed my Z06 grille, I figured that I needed something else to do while I wasn't driving the car. So, I purchased the paint and supplies from automotivetouchup.com and went to work.
I wanted to stay with the theme of the colors on the car and went with Arctic White fuel rails with Torch Red lettering and plenum. I did not sand them down and left the texture on the parts as I kind of like the look better than the "smoothies". I added some chrome stingrays but was worried about them falling off under the extreme heat from the engine, getting caught up in something, and possibly causing damage to a component. So, I pulled them off a few days later.
I also added a painted, Arctic White stainless steel oil cap with carbon center from corvettemods.com. It weighs a bit more than the plastic OEM cap, but sure looks better and informs the service tech of which oil I prefer.
I appreciate the compliments, everyone. There is a lot of inspiration on this forum. Modding never ends. Splitter, rockers and a Caravaggio wheel are in my future.
Looks very nice and you saved a bundle of $$$ to buy something else.
Good job and thanks for the photos.
Question:
Where did you buy the Z06 grille? How hard was the Z06 grille to install on the standard C7?
Thanks in advance for any reply.
Thanks! I bought the grille from CULTRAG Performance, forum vendor.
Here is a thread posted by fellow forum member "jagamajajaran" which contains a great video tutorial on the installation process. I added the challenges I had in my procedure on page 3 of the thread.
