Default Can Z06 wheels be used on a Z51?

Does anyone know if the new Z06 rims will fit a Z51? I just like the look of those wheels much better than the chromes I have on my car. The tires are different, but I was wondering if the rims would work. It should not be too long before one of our forum vendors start to offer them. Are you listening Bob from House of Wheels??

You can, but they're going to look pretty silly. The Z06 is three inches wider in the rear, so each tire is going to end up sticking out of the fenders in the rear by at least an inch. The front won't be quite as drastic since the front fenders are the same on the two cars, but they did add what appears to be approximately a 1/2 to 3/4" fender flare. The Z06 wheels would likely stick out about a 1/4" from the stock fenders.

I'm sure there will be an aftermarket company that comes out with a set of Z06 "style" wheels for the base model. But unless you're going to buy new fenders, I wouldn't recommend Z06 wheels on the base model.

Thanks for the good information. I never thought about the width issue, so the idea of using those wheels is over. I would like to find someone to swap my chromes for painted as I stated in an earlier post. Really not a fan of knock off rims, too much inconsistency in quality unless you spend big bucks.

Default Z06 wheels on Z51

I wonder what Z06 front wheels would look like on all four corners of a Z51. Would solve the rears sticking out, possibly keep same width tires on rear? Downfall speedo might be off by tiny bit

It looks horrible, we test fitted my c7z wheels on a z51 and it looks at least 4 inches too wide. If you want to look like an rc car go for it

Wow that's days apart. We were searching for a Z donor car to test fit or hoping to find someone with pics of it already done
