Anyone that worries about depreciation shouldn't own a car! Let alone a new car!

And in ten years time the prices will be way more dependent on the condition and mileage of the car then it will be on whether it's a 2015 or 2016. Just buy the 2015 and enjoy it and don't worry about depreciation unless you planning on trading it in two years.
That's true if you are able to keep it 5 years, but sometimes things happen. We bought a 2013 Mazda CX5 in June of 2012 and it was totaled in June of 2014. We paid ~24K out the door and got 22K from the insurance company. It was treated like it was a one year old car. You just can't prepare for every contingency.

Why get the the 2016 since they will be out before you know it
I hear the 2017 's won't depreciate as much because the North Korean
President Yun Suk *** says he wants production stopped by 2018 or we will
face dire consequences.

So I would have a 2015 then I figure there is a good possiblity that by June 2015 the 2016's are out.

Why should I buy a 2015 when 3 months later the 2016's arrive? This is a very valid question, and perhaps if you were in my shoes, you might be asking the same question. Do you understand perhaps why I am asking.

I also understand that depreciation is a fact of car ownership.
I understand your thinking and what I would like to suggest is look on-line at the forum dealers first as they have lots of inventory - then wherever necessary and I'm guessing you can find a car and price almost identical to what they are telling you is a 6 month wait. I understand when you order it's "exactly" what you want, but small compromises are forgotten quickly when your out enjoying your new Stingray rather than rubbing your hands together waiting on a constraint to be lifted.

well what about the depreciation of 16s when 17s come in?

I don't get it
Exactly, you can say that about every car made, every year. That question is ridiculous. We are just a few months into the 15's. If you want the car, buy it. You want to wait until next August or September, that's fine too. You will be in the same position one year from now with your 2016. Sorry dude, I really don't see what answer you are looking for.

Might as well wait for 2017 or 2018 if you are concerned about resale. Remember the C6 came out in 2005 and 3 years later the C6 went to the LS3 for a power boost.

You gents might want to hold off for a '16, as I hear Bowling Green is going to do a slight retool in July. ..... something about changing the *** end to look like a Vette.

what would make you think you would be first in line for a 2016? and then have it in the first month. just order a car that you will love for years, color, ect and dont worry if someone ask's you, hay is that brand new? even leftovers cars are brand new.

Perhaps you should wait for the C8, rumor is that it will arrive in 2020 and you might as well wait for model year two in 2021 to get the latest and greatest!

Wait a minute, you are looking for a 2015 base C7 and you're getting jacked around by dealers?????? There are over 3000 C7's IN STOCK at dealerships around the country. Do a little leg work and odds are your exact build (unless you have some weird combination of options) is probably sitting on a lot, with discounts, waiting for a buyer....

Thanks laborsmith. If 2016 production does start 8/3/2015 that would be 51 weeks of 2015 production since 8/11/2014. C7 production should again total over 35,000. Each one that's a Z06 will mean one less Stingray.

Subtracting the two week winter and summer breaks (C7 production during part of the summer break this year is not normal) and other holidays I would look for about 45 weeks of production.

By retooling, you mean they are buying a bunch of these design tools?

Good point. I was thinking in terms of one week short of a full years' production. I had been wondering if BG would return to the usual SOP of before the July vacation. That would have shortened 2015 production by over a month.
