Ok, what is the difference in competitive driving mode, that is only available with "magnetic selective ride", or just pushing the button on the console that turns off traction control and leaves stability control on. I don't see a difference in the manual explanation, except full power is allowed in Performance management mode. Full power should be allowed in both modes unless stability kicks in....right? I do not have the Z51 option.
The way I read the manual for Competitive Driving Mode, the base C7 and Z51 without MSRC have only one mode while in CDM.
This mode will turn the Traction Control System off but StabiliTrak is always on. There is no choice to turn off StabiliTrak in Competitive Driving Mode for the C7 base and Z51 without MSRC.
But, as you said, full engine power is allowed in this mode.
For the Z51 optioned with Magnetic Selective Ride Control, there are five Performance Traction Management modes within the Competitive Driving Mode - called Trac 1,2,3,4 & 5.
In Trac 1,2 & 3, StabiliTrak is on and engine power is reduced. In Trac 4 & 5, StabiliTrak is off. Only Trac 5 mode allows full engine power.

Reason: add content
the reduced engine power is for only in events where your engaging the Performance Traction Management (flooring it out of a corner).
Just stabbing the gas on a straight away, you're going to get full engine power in any mode except ones that have traction control enabled. If the car is spinning, it'll lose power. Otherwise, straight line hammering, you're getting full power every time.
