Yes, they were the stock silver wheels but you could start with Black as long as they aren't pitted and skip the first step because the final clear is powder coat.

The company that does the Hyper Silver / Hyper Black is Technical Painting Jacksonville. They are a wholly owned subsidiary of Enkei Wheels. They aren't a supporting vendor so Google them.
It's a 4 step process
1. Clean and correct any issues with the wheels
2. Black powder coat the entire wheel
3. Drop spray silver paint (Drop spray means laying the wheel flat on a table and spraying down in one axis so the paint falls onto the surface at different densities depending on the curves, it gives the wheels a 3D look)
4. Clear powder cost the entire wheel
The cost to do new wheels because the prep is simple, $75 / wheel

They can hard anodize aluminum pots, why not a coating that is even better that plastic power coat! I google and see no one advertising any type of similar hard coating on aftermarket wheels.

Burning Brakes
Ordered Torch Red Z51, carbon flash mirrors spoiler, black wheels.
Keeping the black calipers as I want the blackout effect on my wheels.
Too many people get red and with the calipers already painted black did not see the logic in paying another $500 to paint them red.

old thread bumped...guess I'll chime in.
My C7 I kept it with black and blue look. Car just needs tint to go on soon.
The black C6 is getting red soon though to break up all the black.

I always ran a contrasting caliper color on my C5, however, I have black calipers on my C7 and I like them for a couple reasons. The need to constantly attend to brake dust is gone. Also, they are not 'center stage' any more...I see the wheel before the caliper, which is a principle they teach in design school.

Drifting
I have seen Crystal Red C7 Vettes with Red Calipers/Black Wheels, Black Calipers/Silver Wheels & Black Wheels/Black Calipers.
The best looking was the one with Silver wheels/ Black Calipers. The worst looking and frankly didn't fit with the car, was the Black Wheels with Red Calipers. UGLY! The only reason I would recommend the Black wheels, which I have on my VY Z51 (with yellow calipers) is BLACK WHEELS DON"T SHOW THE BRAKE DUST as badly as silver.
The other issue on which wheel to get, is what color interior you choose. Crystal Red looks best with the grey or the black interior. The Kalahari interior has too much orange tones that in my opinion, clash with the Crystal Red ( and most colors....LOL).
