I believe that's how it's supposed to operate. Mine is the same and the manual says basically that. I don't know of a way to keep the same code without having to add it and enter it twice. If someone knows a way to do this please chime in because I would prefer to just have one code.

Wow... I was hoping that I was doing something wrong. That is really stupid engineering or design. Once you put your code in you should be able to lock it with a single push of a button and only need the code to unlock. It takes a long time to set the Valet mode and you have to do it every time you park and leave your car with the top down! That sucks

I could easily be wrong but I can't figure out anyway to do it.

I think it's like those lockers at the gym, just a temporary code. They don't want a permanent code in the system in case you forget it as it's meant to lock down the car and there probably isn't an easy way to get it out of valet mode if you forget.

...How often do you valet your car?

I never valet my car and I use the valet mode.

When your car is locked and the top is off/down, the screen can still be accessed with a push of the screen button - the screen is not locked. Whatever you keep behind the screen (gun, money, etc.) is accessible unless the valet mode is used to lock the screen closed.

The only way to lock the screen is by using the valet mode.

I do agree it's a PIA to have to enter the code two times to lock it.

I don't ever valet my car. I was using it when I parked and had the top down but come to think about it I probably don't have to. I was concerned about someone lowering the NAV screen and getting access to the items I keep in there or opening the trunk. I will have to see if you can do this without the key fob.

I just tried to open the NAV screen while the car was locked. Not only did it open but the alarm never went off!!! That is bull ****. That is why I use valet mode all the time when I leave the car.
